Individually, we have all seen Wishes, Fantasmic, and Illuminations, but we've never really concentrated an entire trip around seeing them from so many different vantage points. But our upcoming trip in June 2012 to celebrate the last day of school (we pick up the kids after classes to head straight to the airport) and the start of summer will do exactly that. Here goes:
Night 1 - We'll be watching Illuminations from the bridge outside the Boardwalk Area. It will be our first night at WDW and staying at Beach Club. We love to pop over to the bridge if we are at the hotel around 9pm to see and hear Illuminations! Reportedly 1,100 fireworks used!!! (Granted, we won't see all of them from the bridge.
Night 2 - No fireworks planned. Instead, we'll be celebrating the last day of Star Wars Weekends with a feverish start at 7:00am for ROPE DROP (though there's an outside chance we'll head over to MK for EMH so we may add a few more fireworks to the list!
Night 3 - A night of firsts. We've been to a dozen or so times but have never done HDDR. So it will be our first HDDR, our first MSELP, followed by our first Wishes! from AAA's Private Viewing Area. Almost 700 fireworks used!
Night 4 - Fantasmic's Dining Experience at Mama Melrose's will put us in the reserved seating section for 9pm Fantasmic! The seats may not be any better or worse than other seats in the house, but I hate waiting in that dreaded line outside the Hollywood Hills Theatre for 1+ hours before the show. Over 200 fireworks used!
Night 5 - Dinner at Rose & Crown at 7:15pm so we can enjoy the private viewing area at the back of the restaurant for Illuminations up close and personal. Another 1,100 fireworks!
Night 6 - A much needed break and early to bed to prepare us for a Greatest Hits Park Hopper Day on our last full day in the park!
Night 7 - At 8:30pm, our three little pirates (and four "grown-up" ones) will line up at the Contemporary Resort docks to set sail on the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage to get a special viewing angle of Wishes again from the center of the Seven Seas Lagoon! What a way to round out the week! Another near 700 fireworks
So if I did my math right, that's more than 3,800 fireworks for the week! Add the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan and some exquisite dining as well as Star Wars Weekends, rope drops, Dole Whips and lots of those yummy Grey Goose slushies in France, and it should be a spectacular way to kick off the summer!
