PTParaD Summer 2020 errr 2021 vacation.

Great job on your first Fort Wilderness trip report, PTP.

Your great pictures made it look like there was no rain at all during your trip (ha).

Finally, I think you set some sort of record for the number of BTM rides in one vacation.

We will certainly stay there 99/100 next time we come back, unless the overhead of dragging the rig there and back outweighs the cost.
Great TR! Thanks for letting us follow along.

FWIW, I used to do the math for every trip. I still have a spreadsheet that compares dragging the RV the 1003 miles each way compared to driving and staying at a Value or staying at a Moderate. I never factored flying, because that was way too costly for 3 of us. Now that DS pays his own way, that is slightly more attractive.

Factoring the difference in fuel, the Fort was nearly the same as staying at a Value. This was before the daily parking fee. At that point it came down to food. I typically eat breakfast and 2-4 dinners at the camper. That was the deal breaker. Having my own bed wasn't really a factor for me like I know it is for others. I stayed in so many places for work and when racing, that a hotel bed doesn't bother me.

I have stayed at a 1/2 dozen different resorts on property from Values to DVC Villas. I really just prefer the feel of the Fort. Someday I would love to stay at one of the Epcot resorts. Beach Club or Boardwalk would be fun, but I think it would be a "once and done". I have a really hard time justifying the price for the Deluxe resorts.

Yes, no rain... I felt like a cartoon character with the storm cloud following directly over me.

I've always liked BTM. I guess my kids like it as much or more.

Financially, I agree it's about a wash. Time also factors in there for me. Tagging on 3 long days or 2 really uncomfortable days on both ends cut into the vacation time at the destination.
