Did not have time to read all the suggestions so I apologize if this was already stated. We sold candy bars but not just any old candy bars we sold SEE"S of California. For those of us who have had them and cannot get this candy on the East Coast it was like manna from heaven. Although we thought they were going to sell by the bar people tasted them and started to buy them by the box since they knew they could not get them at the store.

Also we did themed baskets. Each grade level got a list and a theme. For example, grade 1 got toy theme. We suggested that each partent purchase one or two things from the theme list, (ex: crayons, Play-Doh, paints, etc) then we raffled huge baskets off at the Christmas bazaar.

I have not read all the replies, so if this has been mentioned, please forgive me.

While it might not be the biggest money maker, it is by far, the best "fun raiser" fund raiser. The company is called Origional Works....Yours. The rep sends all the information and the paper on the project. Each child in the school draws a picture on a specific size of paper...not an 8 X 11, but close to standard size. The children's artwork is returned to the company and they produce a 4 X 6 refrigerator magnet from each picture. Those go home with the children along with an order form. The magnets cost $5.00 or so, and the order form also has the additional items you can order...t and sweat shirts, tote bags, note cards, key chains. Everything turns out so beautiful and the company is very helpful with suggestions for the art work....fill in all the page, try not to leave white space, ideas for each grade level, etc.

It might not be as successful financially as a catalogue door to door sale, but so much more elementary school friendly. I just looked on the back of a couple of our magnets...the website is origionalworks.com and the phone number is 800-421-0020.
