My sons school had an auction to benefit the PTA tonight. I have never been to an auction before and had lots of fun. They had a segment where the kids could bid and DS came home with a Connect Four game, he was so excited. And for my first bid I won a BBQ meal (ribs, slaw, biscuits and coke) all for $12.00, what a bargain!

Ohh...I love the school auctions! They ARE alot of fun.
I once won a Furby, and another time..a garden hose!!
Just the CHANCE of winning something is one of those little mini thrills!

...and CONGRATS to you and you son on your wins!:)

Our school is having our annual auction on 1 March. I can't wait - I think I would enjoy it more if there wasn't so much work leading up to it, but it is a huge moneymaker, so the effort is well worth it!

Congrats on your auction!

They are fun aren't they - the last one I went to got dd's a pair of those roller skate sneakers - she was thrilled

I've never been to a charity auction. I've only been to one auction ever and it was an estate auction. I think I could easily become addicted to auctions, they are lots of fun.

Our local elementary school does an auction every year. Each class chooses a theme and puts together a class basket. Some examples have been a Lego basket, Summer Fun basket, Ice Cream Lovers basket, A Night at the Movies basket, etc. Class members bring money for the room mother to buy items or something that would fit with the theme.

Then they have a chance to bid on the finished baskets along with other donated items at the actual auction. The kids get very attatched to the goodies that their classmates bring in and the bidding is usually pretty hot. They usually sell chances on some big ticket items as well.

This is a fun one and not a lot of work for anybody, since parents are bidding on things that they have donated!

Ours is a TON of work - we're having it on March 1, and we've been working on it since early September. But it's well worth it when we sit down and count the money late on auction night!
