Last week my car's transmission died and I made the hard decision to put it to rest and buy a new car. The decision was a little easier because ever since I got a PT Cruiser as a rental car a couple years ago, I knew that I would own one as my next car. So, I bought this baby...

and so far I LOVE it!!

I was wondering who else owns a PT Cruiser and how you like it? What is your favorite feature? What don't you like about it?

I love the look of the car. It's just too darn cute for words! And yet I don't think it's too "girly-cute." It's comfortable to drive and I like that the seats are up high enough so I don't have to bend over to buckle my DD into her carseat. I love the little round analog clock! I love that there's a power outlet in the center console, with a little hole to feed the cord through so I can plug my cellphone in there and the cord remains hidden. I love the keyless entry and the big honkin' key! I love the trunk space and the fact that DD9 can flip the back seats up by herself. Every day I find something else to love about my cute new "PT Cwoooozah!" as DD3 calls it. It's such a fun little car, I love driving again! :drive:

The only thing I've found so far that I don't like is that the gas tank is bigger than my old car's, so it's a lot more expensive to fill it up! But, my first tank of gas lasted me 9 days so I have to fill up a lot less often, so it's a fair tradeoff.

I don't like that I'll be paying for it until DD9 is 15, and then it will probably become her car.

Tell me about your PT Cruiser! If you've had one for a while, how has it lasted? Would you buy another one? What do you like/dislike about it?

Congratulations! A new car is always exciting!

We had the exact same car as a rental, when our car was in the shop after it was backed into (no injuries, so it could have been alot worse).

To be honest, we didn't care for it, but only because of the mileage. See, the car in the shop was a Prius, so we spent a heck of a lot more gas with the PT than with the Prius.

It was cool inside, no doubt! It was also fun to drive.

We just traded in our Cruiser about 2 weeks ago! It was DH's car first and after we traded in the van on a truck, I inherited it. It's a fun little car! Ours was a 2002 and while it was loaded, it didn't seem to have some of the fun features yours has! I can tell you though...the thing I'll miss the most about it was the heated seats. :( Oh..and the seats that folded all the way down.

We traded it in for something a bit more fuel efficient. I got a 2008 Nissan Versa and I LOVE it! My Versa is a hatchback, and the seats fold down, but they don't fold down flat like the Cruiser's did. But the gas mileage is much better!

I have a 2004 that I bought new and I love it. I love all the room. DH is 6' tall and thought it would be too small for him but he has plenty of legroom and headroom and the back seat is roomy and comfortable, too. I love that the seats all fold down and I can fit really big items in there. And, it's still small enough on the outside to park anywhere.

I also love the way it looks and the way it drives. I only had one issue with it while it was still under warranty. I'm now 3 months out of warranty and still no issues! :thumbsup2

Enjoy! Everybody that rides with me ends up wanting to get one, too.;)

I don't own one but I heard that they are going to stop making the PT Cruiser :sad2:

No, they are going to stop making the PT Cruiser Convertible but not the regular Cruiser. I read that too, the day after I bought mine and I thought Oh no! What's wrong with it? But luckily I had read it wrong and they are only discontinuing the Convertible due to low sales.

Mine doesn't have the heated seats but I really wish it did! I test drove an older, more deluxe model that had lumbar support too which was lovely, but mine doesn't have that.

My kids love that they have plenty of room in the backseat and are up high enough that they can actually see out of the windows! They don't love that I won't let them eat or drink in the car. Hey, it's only 9 days old! DD3 already smeared dog poo on the back of my seat from her shoe but thank goodness it wiped right off. If it weren't getting so cold outside I'd tell them no shoes in the car! This is the first car that I've bought and owned in my own name so I am very protective of it, can you tell? ;)

I have a PT Cruiser and love it. His name is Pete and he is a total Disney car. It's a great little car with good gas mileage that when you need it can really haul some pretty large stuff.

Enjoy your PT. I love the purple

I purchased a 2005 PT Cruiser about six months ago with only 19,000 miles on it and was locally owned. It's champagne-colored and is the Touring Edition with a sunroof. We just love it so far! I have nothing bad to say about it, except that I wish the gas mileage was a wee bit better (mine gets about 18.5 mpg in the city). Oh, and the armrests are sort of a pain sometimes, but it's not something I can't live with.

I love the retro look of it, and it is fun to drive. Back in September we drove it to WDW for the first time and it was a very smooth, comfortable ride. It's got tons of space in the back and the shelf above the storage area is great for putting your eggs and bread on so they don't get squashed. We just love everything about the car. In fact, DH wants one for himself one day.

There is an organization here in town of PT Cruiser owners, and they really go all out with fancying up their rides. You should see some of these cars!

EG, my kids named ours Petie! (It's a girl, so it couldn't be Pete.) I'm busy getting her all Disneyfied - she's already got the Minnie antenna topper and the Mickey emblem on the trunk!

AyeST, mine doesn't have armrests. I looked at a 2005 that did and the console is different, I'm not sure if it's a difference between years or models but I agree, armrests can be a pain! Mine has a center console that is up high and padded on top for an armrest.

DD got a silver PT for her 16th birthday. It was her dream car. She got her license this summer and has been driving it to and from high school. I can't remember what year it is, but she loves it! She says it handles well and is fun to drive. So far our only complaint was that she had some trouble shifting soon after we bought it. Turned out she needed a new cable of some sort. Other than that, it's been a peach.

We had one a few years ago for about a year. My husband and son picked it out. They had wanted a VW Beetle, but I convinced them the maintenance issues wouldn't be good. Consumers Report said the PT Cruiser was pretty good, so we got it. But it was just too small for three people. So we traded it in for another Sienna. I love that Sienna so much more. My husband still misses his PT.

I have a 2006 Electric Blue PT Cruiser. I absolutely love it. I get about 25 mpg and it is so much fun to drive. I only have 11,000 miles on it. I also have it completely Disney-fied with my Tinkerbell accessories.

I like the fact that you sit up high in the car and that the seats fold down to carry large items.

We have the exact same car as you, lyzziesmom. It's the same year and color (Opal). It is really fun to drive.

But it was just too small for three people. So we traded it in for another Sienna.
I don't understand. Four people can fit comfortably and it was too small for three people?

...I don't understand. Four people can fit comfortably and it was too small for three people?

Yep, when you are used to a minivan and both adults are 6' or nearly 6' tall, it's too small. I felt very claustrophobic in that PT Cruiser. We took it on a trip out of town (4 hour overnight trip) and we felt very crowded in it. It would never work to drive to FL.

I forgot. We found something we don't like. In our family, we're fond of storing a full sized spare in our cars in case of a flat. There is no room in DD's PT to store a spare unless she puts it in the back of her car. That is not going to happen. Oh well.

I've had a PT Cruiser for about a year and a half now. It's purple, its name is Grimace, and I like it a lot. It's cute and it can fit a washing machine in the back of it.

I don't know about the mechanics, all I can say is so far, so good. Nothing expensively bad has gone wrong yet, but it surely will now that I've typed this.

I have 2001 that I bought brand new.

I love the interior space and the three power adapter station (front dash, mid section and tailgate). The split fold down seats are great. I got the seat warmers too and I will never get a car again without them.
