Do you think psychics really believe they have psychic powers or do you think they know they don't and they just want to make money off of believers? I have only watched one or two of them on TV and only once or twice each. I think they know it is a hoax and they know how to get to people's emotions and they just want to make money from people.

Well, because I have a belief in a higher power, I don't think I can absolutely say they aren't real, because I don't know everything. However, I do think there are some that must be fakes who are only out for money, and possibly there are some that actually do have some sort of psychic abilities. Of course, I do feel for some of the people that go to these psychics, you know, the ones that have recently lost someone very close to them. They are desperate to hear something from that loved one, and I think that all too often, the psychics take advantage of that need.:(

I just started reading "There is a River" the story of Edgar Cayce. It's really freaky. He had the ability to diagnos other peoples illnesses in his sleep. Atleast that is the claim.

I was amazed so far at how much of a devout Christian he was. :D It's a good book so far.

I believe that most on TV and all who have 1-800 numbers are fakes. BUT, I do think that everyone, even you and me, have some psychic abilities. Some people are just better at "hearing" that aspect of their brains. Its not hojo mojo, its just akin to women's intuition and cats' abilties to sense their owner's approaching in the driveway. I think there are some "psychic forces" or some sort of electrical waves kindoff, out there that people can tap into.

The jury's still out for me on John Edwards. I don't believe in ghosts though. My pastor explained it to me recently after I became a bit distraught that I was not feeling any sort of force or guiding hand in my life after my father passed away unexpectedly this Christmas. I was beginning to doubt that there was heaven. He said what he believes if that were the case, that is if our loved ones were watching over us, it would be cruel and would not be fullfillment of the promise of heaven if our loved ones were forced to watch us in our lives as they would innevitably be sad at times - a concept that is not supposed to happen while in heaven. This gave me peace in what I was feeling.

Well, this post made me share a lot more personal information than I am used to sharing. It is just something that I was recently struggling with and I think it was due to the prevelance of these so called psychics in the media.

castlegazer: I knew you'd say that before you posted! :jester:

Seriously, ITA with you.

I believe that everyone has some psychic powers, some people are just more open to them then others. But I don't believe that all the TV psychics are real, there just good listeners and people also hear what they want to.

I did a term paper on ESP back in college and my English professer set up an interview with a friend of his, a psychic, that worked with the police and also predicted he'd meet his future (and then) wife. She didn't charge me a dime and was a really nice lady. She told me some amazing things and they all came true, very detailed. She had lost her sight as an adult and she felt that because of this she was able to tap into her psychic powers.

So yes I believe in psychic powers and no, I don't believe all people who say they're psychic are real.

Yes I do beleive in psychics. It not what I seen on TV but a feeling I had when I was a little kid. Some things can't be explain.

That's all say about it.

I believe that psychics like John Edwards do cold readings. I do believe in mind readors. I had it happen to me once.
I had a coworker who sweared he could read my thoughts, he said his mother had the same type of power. I told him to prove it. He handed me a few sheets of paper and said he was going to ask me a few questions, to write me answers down and crumple up the paper so he couldn't see it. The first one was name a color, then it was name a movie. He got both of those right, then he told me to name a car. That is where it got a little weird. I was thinking of 2 different cars and he said "are you thinking of just one?" I said no, then he said, "well just think of one". How did he know I was thinking of more than one? So, I cleared my head and just thought of one, and he got that right too. That happened about 10 years ago, and I still think about it. Weird, huh?

Friends and I recently had a physic come to my home. I am curious about these things and just wanted to see for myself.
The physic read tarot cards, our birth dates and our palms. It was very interesting. She mentioned my Dr was going to talk to me about blood tests--I had just had blood work done. Mostly it was personality traits and those were accurate.
My friends thougt she hit the mark on them as well.
I enjoyed it---

My favorite is the pet psychic. I have a whole routine where I can imitate her pretty good. I only wish I could get money for my impression

If you want to be a psychic it works best with subjects who can't talk. :teeth:

I am very close to someone with Psychic ability and I can tell you it's no picnic to see things before they happen and try and piece together what is actually being shown to them.

So, I guess I'm trying to say "yes" I do believe that people have psychic ability and also a "yes" to I think some psychics are full of baloney (i.e. 800 numbers) and "yes" people with psychic abilities do know they have them and then there are others who have psychic abilities but don't know how to tap into them.

I saw a psychic on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles about 10 years ago (DH wanted to see one) and I can tell you that I told her nothing about me and she told me my life story (no leading questions, nothing) - that made me a believer.
