I'm going solo to WDW in December from the 2nd thru the 7th.

I want to go to some of the restaurants but I'm wondering if I should get PSs ahead of time. Except for MVMCP for the 5th I'm pretty much going unplanned. I don't know which parks I want to go to what day. Sounds more fun than being on a schedule.

Since I'm going when it should be relatively quiet I'm thinking of calling the dining line the night before and find out when there is an opening.

I'm not an early riser so I figured when going to breakfast it would be around 9:00 or 10:00ish hoping most people were already finished.

Dinner will be just what place has an opening and when. The 5th is the only dinner I'll schedule a PS ahead of time.

The main place I want to go to at least once is Whispering Canyon.

Does this plan sound do-able or should I knuckle down and make a daily itinerary?

Thanks all. :D

We were there around that time last year and it was much more crowded that we would have thought. We were so glad we had PS for everything we wanted. Ohanna's were not even taking walk ins, WCC could not get us in an hour early, and they always had a steady line any time we went by. (we stayed at WL) A month out we had to take our 3rd choice for the CP package resturant. While the parks were never too bad crowded lots of people seem to come for specail events during this time. I would make the PS and then change if you need to.

We were there the 5-13 and several Epcot rest. weren't taking anymore walk-ins. If you have your heart set on a rest. then make a PS.

I would definitely at least make a PS for Epcot being that CP takes up a lot of ressies. Other than that, as others have said, you may not get your first choice but you will get to eat.

Have a great trip!!!

What about calling the Dining reservation line the night before after I choose a place to go and make a PS then?

This is what I do, if I have my heart set on a place for a certain day, I will call and make the PS, but if I just know I want to eat someplace but don't know what day, I wait and call the night before.

I went last year in Oct during the 4/7 deal and it was busier then usual and I was still able to do this, some days I even called the morning of when we decided what Park we wanted to be in that day.

I have gone during Dec and never had a problem calling the night before, im going this year Nov 26th to Dec 5th and plan to do the same.
We have a few PS's we are going to make if we know what park we will be in on that day (due to tours or other things) but for the most part we will decide the day before and call that night!

Good luck! (and maybe we will see you there!!)

Only speaking from my experience here (we usually go during the Food and Wine Festival in October or November)...

My husband and I are not big on planning ahead for dinners. We don't know where we will be that day, what we will have done for lunch, or what we will be hungry for when dinner time rolls around. We have been very lucky in either going a little early for dinner or calling that afternoon to see where we can get in for dinner. If we don't hit the place we are "dying to eat," then we may try for a PS later in the week.

If you aren't a big planner for the rest of the trip, I wouldn't recommend planning all of your dinners ahead of time. That tends to rule your trip as far as worrying if you will get there on time or rushing to get other things done in the morning.

And remember, if you aren't horribly opposed to waiting for a while, just get in line for a table. Disney restaurants only take a certain number of priority seatings for each time because they know that they will have guests waiting to get in.

Have a great trip!

We were there Dec 3rd-8th last year and although the crowds were light, there were still tons of people around. ASMo was very crowded and we couldnt get our room request, which surprised me because it was value season. CM's for dinner was full and walk ins had a very long wait. Same for CP lunch. If you have your heart set on something make a PS. If not wing it.
We are going back in Jan and I intend on making my PS's 90 days out for the restaurants I have my heart set on.

i would make some ps's ahead of time just in case. when you call the night ahead, if you get what you want you can cancel your previously made ps, if you can't get what you want, you can make a choice, keep your ps or take a chance the next day on a walk up.

You can make your PS at LTT for the night you go to MVMCP now... if that is where you are going that night. I did that this week for our party on 12/12.
