I made a couple PS's (Le Cellier & Chef Mickey's) for my DD, DH and myself for our trip. My Mom and Step Dad are thinking of coming along, won't know for sure until close to Sept. Should I call now and change my PS's to a party of 5?? What if they don't go?? Will I need to change them back?? Can I book on for a party of 5 and a party of 3?? Then cancel one.

Call and make them for 5. They can accomodate less people attending far more easily than they can more. If they don't attend you can always call and reduce the nimber back to 3 but make sure you specify that you are keeping the PS's, just reducing the # of people attending!

I think the best thing to do is change them to 5's then change them back if necessary. (If the in-laws decide last minute not to come, it's not a crisis to have 3 at a table for 6, but it's not the best scenario either.) IMO, it wouldn't be appropriate to hold both a 5 and a 3 - you'd be taking two tables "out of the system," knowing that you'll only need one - even if it turns out to be the bigger one.

I agree. Do it now and make the change to 5 persons. A few months back I had made a PS for two at Chef Mickey's and then found out two friends who will also be there wanted to dine with us. When I called to change it to 4 people, they had to actually cancel the PS and rebook as 4 people. Not a problem sice it still was pretty far out. If you were to wait to up the number until you're sure, they might not be able to accomodate the larger group. I also agree that you shouldn't make two PS's. Just go with one for 5.

I wouldn't worry about it. I changed my PS for restaurants the day of. I added 6 more people in some cases and they always took care of me.

I would definitely call and change the PSs to parties of 5. It's an easy telephone call and you won't have to worry about being turned away if the restaurant is too full.
