PSE Tutorial - cutting out a selection

Ok, I'm brand new at PSE and it's been many years since I took that PS class in college.

I'm trying to cut out the face of a watch - I just want the face. I've selected it using the marquee tool now I can't figure out how to just get that slected portion.

And are there any good basic PSE tutorials online? Like a how to class or something?

There are many tutorials both on youtube or adobe. There are several ways to cut out the watch face in the marquee. One is to select the watch face and do a cut and paste - but paste onto a different layer. This keeps the background and lets you "play" with just the watch face. If you want just the watch face remaining, after the watch face is selected go to Select --> inverse --> and then delete. This will delete the background and just leave what you originally selected. There are other ways. Everyone has their preferences. Good luck!

YouTube has lots of videos on PSE. If I have a questions on how to do something, most of the time the answer is there with step by step directions.

Thank you for the replies. I was finally able to figure out how to do what I wanted. I have my first DISign done on PSE! Working on my second. I will post them later!
