Apple has ended support for Quicktime on Windows-based computers (if you use iTunes, you probably have it on your computer). It appears that unsupported software opens your computer up for viruses, malware and other malicious attacks.

I wonder how long this has been going on. I had a problem with a virus hit my macbook air and had to have it fixed. I hope this is really not the case.

My understanding is that this latest news is about Quicktime on Windows. Malware for Macs are still very, very rare.

I don't have the quicken time , but I still wonder how it obtained a virus.

Thanks for the reminder! I heard about this yesterday and by the time I got home had forgotten to uninstall.

So if we uninstall can the kids still hook ther ipods up to the computer to save the stuff on their ipods?

Do you have virus software? If not get it. They (the virus makers) don't make many for macs because there are relatively few macs and they aren't used in industry, banking, govt, education etc. however everyone should protect their computer with virus software. It's inexpensive.

I am in the process of getting virus software installed. Thank you for asking. I have someone who does installation for the macs.
