PSA for those using the DDP

I just returned from my first trip as an adult, and of course also my first time using DDP. We were at WDW for 7 nights, so we had 7 table meals, 7 quick service meals, and 7 snacks each. I made reservations for 6 table service meals, as one of them was Cinderella's Royal Table, which took up two credits. When we were dining at our last meal, the server came by and asked if we were on the DDP. When he scanned my bracelet, he said that we didn't have any meals left! I rattled through all of of meals (our server was impressed that I had such a great memory) and he went off to talk with a manager about the problem.

While he was gone, we pulled our all of our meal receipts that we had kept and looked at the bottom where it shows how many credits you have left (for instance, if you eat a table service meal, it tells at the bottom how many table service credits are left, the same goes with quick service meals and snack credits). I had been monitoring our quick service meals and snack credits, since they weren't planned in advance, but I hadn't been paying attention to the bottom of the receipt of the table service meals. Sure enough, on our third day in the park (Epcot), it appeared that we lost a set of table credits! Our server called our resort and they finally figured out that it appeared that we had eaten at Akershus in Epcot twice in one day. Thankfully they were able to work it out and all was fine.

However, my PSA is to keep track of those receipts! Make sure you look at the bottom where it tells you how many credits you have left. Sadly, our last table service meal wasn't quite as fun as it should have been as I spent half of the meal waiting for them to work it out for us (and I KNEW I was correct and that we hadn't over spent our meal credits). Also, our server told us that at some restaurants when this happens, servers will make you pay for your meal and then go back to your resort to be reimbursed. I was thankful our server took care of it for us.

Overall, loved the DDP. I think next time I would try to pre-plan our quick service meals a little better, but all-in-all, I loved not having to think about paying for food while on our trip. Hope this helps someone!

We had an issue with this as well last year. However, the restaurant (happened to be the Plaza) called over to our resort and got it fixed while we were eating dessert. So we weren't terribly inconvenienced. We like DDP as well because it helps us make sure our teens can eat without carrying a bunch of money or charging a bunch of stuff to the room!

Thank goodness you had all your receipts! Glad it was able to be worked out, but I'm sorry it spoiled your meal--I would have been so stressed out too!

I snap a picture of the receipts so I'm not carrying around a pile of papers. We had some magic band/DDP problems (major) in August 2013 but Disney really made up for it. It did help speed up the process that I had images of our receipts.

This is a great idea.

I'm definitely copying this for our trip in November. Thanks!

we had a problem in 2006.
we knew to keep our receipts so we did easily fix the issue.
since then we look every time.
we have never had an issue since though.

When you take a picture (with phone), make sure to send them up to an app like Evernote or some cloud. Phones do get lost. With Evernote or other cloud app, they are available with any Internet connection.

We had a problem in 2013 where one of our QS credits disappeared. I had been looking at our receipts off and on because of a tip on the boards, just keeping track and had noticed one night that an extra was gone. We went to MK city hall and spent about 45 minutes straightening it out. I knew what had happened but they had to investigate it themselves of course ;) I knew it was probably because of a problem we had had at BOG. When they had us use one of the ordering kiosks it had froze and crashed at the end so they sent us to a register to order. I was assured that it had not charged us a credit. My receipt at the register was ok, so I thought it was ok. But I guess the extra kiosk one had not went through yet. So when I noticed our count was wrong on a later receipt, I knew the cause.
At city hall the CM wasn't the friendliest (she kind of acted like we were trying to pull a slick one) but we were ok with waiting to the side while they figured it out. It was very busy that night and we just wanted it fixed. They fixed it after confirming the two charges at BOG minutes apart and we were on our way after about 45 minutes. So definitely watch your receipts.
