PSA: CPSC recall on the Baby Jogger Citi-Mini stroller

i requested a new buckle end of July when this first was announced. I was hoping for it to come before our early Aug trip. It still hasn't come. I called baby jogger mid aug and they said that they are still working on the new buckle that it would be sent soon. Still haven't received it. I am now making sure that the buckle is secure when i put DS2 into the stroller

I just read on a Stroller group that I am a member of that Baby Jogger had to wait for authorization from the CPSC which just happened and so replacements started being sent out yesterday.

I still need to call for mine but DD is 3 so I am not too worried about it. Probably won't have it in time for my trip in 18 days anyway.

my buckles showed up in today's mail-- they click soo much more secure than the old buckles-- now to figure out how to put them on. There is about 4 pages of instructions and pictures!

I don't think they were doing that. I called about a month ago when I first heard about it and they sent me the new buckles. DH and I couldn't get the old ones off to switch them - so they sent me a whole new double seat for mine that has the new buckles on it. They sent the buckles to me pretty quickly (called on a tuesday afternoon - had it by Friday). The seat they sent pretty quickly too back about 2-3 weeks ago - DH spoke to them on a Wed and we had the new seats on Friday. I would call them again. Although maybe they are just overwhelmed now that the CPSC announcement came out.

I put my new buckles on today-- got the shoulder strap buckles on no problem BUT the crotch buckle -- I can't get the old one off! The strap is rather thick at the end and the buckle has this tiny thin opening. I gave up after 30 mins.

I guess I will give baby jogger a call in the am to see how to remove the old crotch buckle.

lillykat-- what part of the buckle could you not get off?? Just curious.

Don't bother you won't get anywhere they told me (and later my DH) to try pliers but better was to open the seam (I think they sew it after putting on the buckle) and the take it to get it professionally resewn ummmmm NO! They didn't even send us instructions just the buckle. Just call them and tell them that it is obvious that the crotch buckle was sewn after putting it on and that you worry about the integrity of the strap (ours was starting to fray by trying to get the buckle on) and that you want a new seat. This is what my DH did and they sent us a new double seat. We felt we shouldn't have to take a stroller and pay to have it professionally re-stitched esp when we had never used the stroller (we had just bought it from Albee baby and it shipped the day I heard about the recall - so it have never even been used).

Okay -- I called Baby jogger first thing this morning. The lady said that it comes out on an angle and to use pliers to pull the strap out.?? aah okay but the stitched end of the strap is too thick for the old buckle. I tried that and it didn't work. Dh was home, so he took the pliers and a screwdriver and broke the old buckle off. If you do this please be careful bc we had a few tiny pieces of the old buckle go flying. We were able to put the new buckle on w/o any problem.

lillykat-- thanks for letting me know-- by all means they should send you out new seats. I sew but there is no way I could resew the strap end again ( briefly thought about it.) I wouldn't pay for it either. Enjoy your stroller-- you will LOVE it! I soo wished they had them 9 yrs ago when I needed a double.
