PS4 or Xbox?

I know, forgive me, not a DW question. But I'm piggybacking off Pete's oft comments re gaming consoles.

Just gave my 360 to our grandson. The grandsons played it more often than I did and liked that I had one to use when they visit.

Now I think I want a new one although I confess to not using it very often. If I told you how old I am it would probably explain why.

Anyway, Xbox one or PS4?

I think the One "does" more doesn't it?

Thanks!

I don't know much about them - but my sons are asking for an Xbox One

It really depends on what games you like to play and if you play online? For mw I am a xbox person all the way.. I love forza motorsports over grand turismo by far and for online gaming xbox has more of a competitive online community just seems like a lot of younger kids like the playstation console..

DrBanner said it right - it depends on the games that you love. Now that the prices are competitive - you really are in good hands either way though. I opted for the PS4 earlier b/c of the lower price and Disney Infinity 2.0 looks beautiful on it. Truthfully, I'm always on my Wii U though because of the first-party games. :)

Ive got an xbox one and love it.

But it all depends on what your mates have got, multiplayer is big and is great to play with friends as long as you have got the same console

Spec-wise the PS4 is a more advanced gaming machine but there are other factors to consider. Most games are available for both systems, but not all. For example, you can't play Forza or Halo on the PS4. Likewise, you won't be playing Uncharted or The Last of Us on the Xbox One. My boys went with the Xbox One because they do a lot of online gaming with friends and that is the system their friends have. I don't do much (if any) online gaming so that wasnt a consideration when I picked up a PS4. The PS4 is beating the Xbox One handily in sales but I wouldn't factor that into your decision. Microsoft has corrected most of their launch day missteps that caused them to lag behind in sales. Bottom line is they are both very good systems. There are definitely pros and cons to each system.

We have the PS4 in our house and I do not play it. But now that it is Christmastime, we are looking to buy a game for DSS who is 11 and it seems that the games are limited for the PS4 .. and he has most of them already. I can't speak to the XboxOne but would suggest you go online and see what games exist for each system and base your decision on that.

You can building a budget gaming rig with better graphics for around the same price.

Also the fast that games are cheaper on pc if you take advantage of steam sales

Not sure.

A lot of the extras like voice control require the Kinect. Of course, the voice controls are pretty iffy. I can't tell you how many times "Xbox on" has turned into "turn on you stupid Xbox" screamed directly into the Kinect.

Honestly, both systems have kind of been a bust for the manufacturers. The game selections for both are limited, definitely not what they should be a year after launch. Neither console has pulled ahead of the other one as the clear winner, and first-year sales for both were ok, but not spectacular.

Agreed. The XBOX One is a great gaming / media device. The PS4 is more along the lines of a straight up gaming device with a little better graphics in areas.

I'm a little biased bc I love the XBOX exclusive games. Love multiplayer, but you'll have to spend an extra $60 a year for a live membership, you can go cheaper but the gold account gives you little extras that are nice.

With most games moving to digital downloads the XBOX also offers an external HD hookup which is nice, not sure if the PS4 offers that?

Hope this helps. :thumbsup2

Have both and have had both since the original versions. As much as I love the PS4 and the PS brand in general, the XBox One would win for me if I could only have one. The reason for me is exclusives. There are more I'm interested in on XBox than on Playstation. With that said, I could never own just one or the other. :lmao:

I have a PS4 and have no interest in an XBOX.

REasons:
Our PS3 was is still hooked up to the TV for old games. The XBOX 360 hadn't been turned on in over a year before the PS4 took its spot.

I don't like playing online for most things espeically first person shooters and that seems to be most of what microsoft does.

My favorite games include Uncharted and Last of Us

The things microsoft did with the E3 explanations of the 360 upset me as a consumer. It is clear that microsoft had no idea what they were doing and the only reason they have a decent product is at least they were smart enough to tell everyone how stupid they were early enough that they could fix it. That makes me not want to support them as a company.

We love PSN and get a lot of free games from it. (Ok since you pay for PSN technically we get alot of very cheap games for it)
