Our vacation will be during MLK week. I am not that organized yet to know which park we will be going to on which day. I was going to sort of "go with the flow" when we get there. The only two places I know we really want to eat at are the Rainforest Cafe and the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater. Since January is usually a low attendance period, is it really important to still book a PS? Can I just show up at the restaurant during the morning and make a PS for lunch or dinner? Thanks for any help!

The nice thing about PS is that you have a ressie. Even though Jan. maybe slow, the time you pick to dine could be busy. I would make PS for the Sci-Fi. Sci-Fi is a popular MGM restaurant.
The only thing with the Sci-Fi is the seating. You sit in a car, 2 seats in front, 2 in the back, making it hard to share or assist young kids, I recommend the Prime Time 50's instead.

As far as the Rainforest Cafe, they are not part of WDW so you need to call them directly from your hotel.

I fyou don't mind missing dining at these 2 places and taking a chance then by all means skip the PS.

Thanks catheren! I think I will try to work on designating a day for MGM, and then I'll call for a PS and we'll adjust our schedule that day to make it work.

Have a great trip, and if you go to Prime Time 50's ask for Aunti Claire for a server, she is wonderful!

We have gone to WDW the last two Januarys, and will also be there around the same time as you. :)
I make PS'. There have been times I have called ahead and made the PS for a little later. Sometimes we have showed up early. (The CM's have always told me they rather have guests arrive early, than late.) I have never had a problem with this in January.
The only two places we have eaten in January that we really needed PS' were LeCellier and Chefs de France.

I just want to add that if you are looking to go to the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom you can make PS and I highly recommend them!
