I'm new at this, but my plan so far is to take the day off from the parks that day and then drive/get to somehow Ohana's for dinner and then ride the monorail over to MNSSHP. We are doing LTT our first night there, and thought we'd try this.

Might I make a suggestion? It is really a good idea to have dinner inside the park on party night, you will not need a park ticket, just the party ticket. It's much quicker to get in, if you go in around 5:30 or so and eat. If you wait until around the start of the party, the lines tend to get really long outside the gates, and it takes a long time to get in, and Main Street is usually jammed. If you are already inside, it's much quicker to get to other areas of the park.
Last year we ate at CP and as soon as they let people go into the park areas, we were back at Big Thunder and totally alone! They let us ride over and over without getting off.
