ps - how important for Thanksgiving day?

Is it safe to assume that without ps, you wouldn't be able to find a seat at a full-service restaurant on the actual day of Thanksgiving? We've only gone to Disney during off-peak times.

Thanks

Yes that is a safe assumption... Make those PS's now and save yourself the hassel. When I worked front desk at the Wilderness Lodge it took me about an hour to find a restaurant that could accept a family that missed their seating time because dad had broken his hand and was at the hospital. Just as an example as to how hard it is to finagle.

We've been to WDW three times Thanksgiving week and I would highly suggest making ps for the whole week- especially turkey day. We saw people turned away for all three meals- breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Good luck!

Definitely use PSs for the entire week. Chef Mickey's was packed for dinner on Thanksgiving and the parks were crazy busy. Also, I can tell you that on the Saturday AFTER Thanksgiving at MGM they were taking no walk-ins at 50s Prime Time. And MGM wasn't nearly as crowded then as the parks were on Thanksgiving Day.

If you plan on eating at any full service place, make your PS as soon as the 90 day window opens. This is a very busy time of the year. I arrived the day after Thanksgiving for the last 2 years and had PS for everything and was glad I did. Can't tell you how many frustrated and grumpy people I saw going place to place for meals and being turned away each time.

Plan your days now, then plan where and when you want to dine, then as soon as your 90 day window for that date opens, call first thing in the morning and get those PS.

I would book as many PS for the week as you can. We were there for Thanksgiving week in 2001 and it was packed Thursday-Sunday. We ate at Hollywood & Vine for Thanksgiving dinner and we were sure glad we had PS that day.

I missed getting PS's for LTT last year, because I forgot to call on the 90 day mark. I called the day after and thankfully we had a backup plan as to where to go, so we were able to get our backup - Garden Grill in Epcot's The Land.

We did enjoy that and would definitely go back. We did try it for the Ice Cream Social and that was fun too.

The meal for Thanksgiving had turkey, flank steak and some type of fish, plus vegetables. Salad was served first, then the main course and then a great Apple Cinnamon crisp for dessert. DH & I each had a glass of wine and we really enjoyed they types we picked.

Another nice thing was that the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and it revolved slowly. Then there were the characters, Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale. They all stopped at our table even though we were pretty much all adults, DD-16.

I would recommend it.

I'm calling on Friday am to book Whispering Canyon... just to be safe.

Last year we had some trouble booking LTT. At 90-days out MK park hours were not available, so LTT seating was only available for ressies through 5:45pm... We ended up watching for the park hours to be released, then called PS daily until more LTT hours opened... This is how we got our 7:00pm ressie, last year.

Good luck everyone.

I've also been booking PS every day for most meals. I hate to be a slave to the mealtimes but we are traveling with IL's who "need" to eat on time. I booked:

(arriving Sunday, leaving Saturday)

house of blues: sunday night
Monday (MK)Chef Mickeys (breakfast) and Whispering Canyon (dinner)

TUesday: nothing-going to Kennedy SC so we will probably eat at hotel cafeteria

Wed: Epcot: Rose and crown (lunch) and di Romas (dinner)--we have a party of 7 and even though I called first thing this morning best we could do was 2 tables for each seating.

thurs (thanksgiving): hopefully get citricos or narcosses.

friday MGM: want to book sci fi and for dinner probably portobello yacht club.

I wish they would do online PS like you can reserve rooms online thorugh the DW website!! Woudl save a lot of $$ in phone bills!

Well, I too, have been a slave to the phone this week. Today it has been awful. On hold for WDW-DINE for 55+ minutes. At that point I gave up and hung up the phone. That is when I realized I was being so silly. I just called DVC member services and got through right away. Sometimes there can be mental blocks. It is so nice to remember that MS can make PS for you.
