Are PS really needed? We are going last week of Sept-Oct. We don't know yet which day we will be at MGM.

Since you are not sure what day you are going, I would say no. Once you get there and have a better idea when you are going, I would definitely rather be safe than sorry. You can even try and make them the day of.....we did that and got PSs, just not the time we wanted.

I would make one at some point - not now necessarily but when you know if and when you will be at MGM I would make it then.

When we were there in 01/02 the parks were pretty quiet but we waited 40 mins for our PS. They were first telling walk ins that they could either wait about 2 hours for a NON car table OR they could come back at 3 or 4 and maybe they could get a table then.

We've made a reservation for both. We have also just walked up and gotten lucky enough to only have to wait 5 minutes (last Oct). Both are worth going to. A lot of fun and pretty good eats!
:teeth:

i would say yes for primetime. without a ps we've been told that there can be a 1-2 hour wait time.

You really need a PS for the Primetime Cafe, it is one of the first sit down places to fill up, especially if there is a change in the weather. We had late lunch PS (2:30pm) in March and were seated right away while everyone else was trying to get out of the rain, the wait for a table was over an hour and after we finished our lunch they were turning people away.
