PS for Lunch?

My DH is not one to have a set date and time for things on a vacation, so I am wondering if we can walk-in at lunch times or do we need to make PS. We are thinking about Sci-Fi and 50's and Resturant Merekkesh (sp?). I know these are popular. We are willing to wait for a table as long as its not over 30min. Is this resonable or should I make my DH commit to dates and times and make PS? ( I also read that even with PS you have to wait?)

It really depends which time of year you visit. DUring peak times, we have PS's for most of our meals. With a PS, I have never waited longer than 15 minutes. During slower times, you probably don't need one. However, if there is a certain restaurant that you absolutely have to dine at, I would make a PS.

I basically agree with disneyag; it all depends.

We were at MGM on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and they were turning anyone without a PS away from 50's at lunch. We had a PS and waited maybe 15 minutes (and we got there a few minutes early to warm up!).

At other times, however, we've walked into restaurants like Tony's in the MK with no problems.

I visited last week (a slow time) but they were turning people away at Le Cellier and other restaurants for dinner. This is probably because they are part of the Candlelight Processional Package. We had better luck at lunchtime, especially late-ish. For example, we had dessert at 50's Prime Time around 2:30 and it was great! No wait, very relaxed, no pressure to order more than the one shared sundae! When we were in the parks in July if you didn't have a PS you were basically out of luck. Maybe you could see how your day is going and then try to give a call for a PS in the morning as your day is shaping up?

We usually made PSs the night before or the morning of. Like you, we didn't want too much planning. This worked ok for us, it was May and not very busy. The one time we didn't make a PS, we went to Sci-Fi Dine in for lunch and they had nothing. We were able to make a PS for a few hours later, so it was ok.

This time around, I have a park day itinerary, so I went ahead and made PSs. Who knows if we'll stick to them, but we'll try!

When you walk in the park in the morning you can possibly make your PS then for lunch. You wouldn't be tied to a major overload of PS's, but you may not get your first choice of place to eat or exact time you want. Booking that day is an easy way to avoid being overplanned for those that like it looser, but gives you an assurance that you will still have a place to eat a sit down meal later.
