We're going to be at WDW Dec.11th-17th. How soon should we make PS for thos dinner show. What is the best time to do and how is the food?

You can make a PS 2 years in advance , the sooner you do the better seating you get - we will be going to HDDR for the first time in May - I booked a 7:15 time. I've heard wonderful things about HDDR and am really looking forward to it :cool1:

Hoop De Doo is a hoot. The food is pretty dependable - ribs, fried chicken, corn, beans, bread, salad, etc.

Book ASAP to get the best seats. It's not a PS, you will actually be reserving a table.

I prefer the later show, but I don't have kids.

I booked our ps for our March trip several weeks ago and was told it was almost sold out at that point! Maybe we got the last table! :sad2: We are going to the 7:00 show! :Pinkbounc So, I would say book your ps ASAP! :bounce: They will charge your CC though! :flower: I hope we won't get a terrible table - we are a party of 3!! :cheer2:

First of all, book it NOW. The earlier you book the better the table you get and the closer you are to the stage the more performer interaction you get (we've sat in the front row 3 times and it's GREAT!).

As for which show to go to, it depends on what you plan on doing that day. A lot of people like the 7:15 show because they can do quite a bit at a park and still make the HDD. For us 9:30 is too late to be eating that much food.
We like to go to the 5:00 show and either go to MK or DTD for the evening after the HDD is over.

We booked Dec 28, 2005 last August - So I would say book as soon as you know the day and time. We like the 7:00 show sicne it allows plenty of park time but is not too late when you finish.

Be aware that the tickets are charged to your credit card when you book.
The have a cancellation policy (either 48 or 72 hours I don't remember at this moment)

We're sort of waiting on the dates of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party to be released. We want to do the Hoop-dee-doo revue and the party that week we're at WDW.

I dunno...we didn't even book our trip until mid-January and we got seating(for 2) with no problem. In fact, they didn't even assign us a table until about 3 hours before the show and we ended up right up front. :cool1: The performers interacted with lots of people, even upstairs on the shelf. I think it's the luck of the draw, personally.

We got relatively last minute (2-day) reservations (8 people!) during the dreaded February Vacation week last year, and got tables not too close but it didn't matter. The cast asks where everyone is from, and heard that two of my neices were from Portland Oregon. One of the performers came over to us and introduced himself as a native of Portland.

It's a very winning show but I wouldn't see it alone too many times in sucession. I think I mean it doesn't change that much. (Which is good.) Bring new people with you each time you come. (I guess that's the key to a lot of Disney.) The food is good but not great: be sure you haven't eaten in the last 8 hours if you want to really enjoy it.

They carded my wife there last year (well (strike that, slightly) over 21+) and wouldn't serve her the unlimited Sangria pitcher since she hadn't carried her driver's license with her that night. You think that's funny but just ask her.

The last 2 times we've gone we have booked the day of show, always the 9:30 PM show (the only one with a discount) and have always gotten great seats. (Usually one row from the stage).

Not to be the voice of opposition here but ( and I really would like to know for sure myself) I heard that you should make the res as soon as possible but that doesnt promise a good table. I was told by someone herein the DIS that your table is determined by when you actually pick your tickets up at guest services. So if that is true, book now and then get to guest service early. You can pick the tickets up from guest services no sooner than 7 days prior to the show. Also, if you have the MYW +Dining then you can use two of your table service options per person to reserve the show with no other payments needed.

So am I right or wrong about the ticket thing? I truly am curious. I would hate to think it is one way when it is in fact another.

Tickets are not on sale. Last year they went on sale in May. Keep checking here as someone will certainly post that they've gone on sale.

Goofy, We've always been told the earlier you book the better the table and it seems to have played out that way. A number of the times we've seen the show (6 times and counting), either the evening we arrive or within a couple of days of arriving and we have been seated up front.

Not sure that proves anything, but it seems to make sense.

Cool. :) I had just heard it the other way. But it was a "grain of salt" kind of thing anyway. :)

I sure would love to know how it really works at HDDR!! For our visit last August we booked HDDR about 10 months beforehand. But, our show was supposed to be on Aug. 14, the day after Charley came through. Fort Wilderness was closed that day...so we had to rebook for a later evening that week. We got to the show and were the second family to check in as we were really early...about an hour early. We were still seated up in the balcony along the sides. When we did the Luau several years ago we booked it about 3 months out and were one of the first in line for the show and were seated in a front table..go figure.

We are planning for my dd's 13th b-day celebration in Oct.'06 so I guess we will make reservations for it pretty soon. Hope we get up front this time.

It is probably because when you rebooked the res it took you completely out and placed you back into the que for tables again. This time at a much lower seating.

So, obviously it depends on when you book not when you either pick-up your tickets or when you check in at the podium. That's what I thought.
