Do you need PS for breakfast at Boma. We are staying at AKL, but would it be reasoanble to booke a PS for breakfast the day before or do I really need to book 90 days out.

How do you know what day you will want with all the PS choices. its driving me mad!!

isanda--

I'm not sure about breakfast, but last year we stayed at Coronado. On our first evening we decided we might want to try Boma. I called about 6:00 p.m. and asked if we could get a preferred seating for that evening and was told yes at 7:30!

There were others waiting during that same time and we did have to spend about 20 minutes looking around the resort, but we had no problems getting in on short notice for dinner.

Maybe someone more familiar with the resort would be able to tell you about the crowds at breakfast.

Good luck!

Is their a penalty for not turning up for a PS. Apart from the ones that take a deposit (CRT and Fantasmic Dinner Package)?
Could you therefore make several breakfast reservations for your stay but only tunr up for a couple of them? Is this Bad??!!

I think it would be ok to make a few ps's for your breakfasts and hold them for a few days until you get your vacation "Plan" set. But even though you won't be charged if you don't show up, it likely that other families are waiting for ps's to open up so that they can get in. As a courtesy I always cancel all unwanted ps's as soon as I know I won't need them. Book what you can get and think you may need - look at your "big picture" for the week --and then cancel the ones you don't need asap. Hope this helps.

Re: Boma - I would make a ps as I've seen the place pretty full for breakfast, although a few years back we had a 7:00 seating, we were the first table seated for the day and it was quite empty so I guess it all depends on what time you need.

I wanted to bump this up again to ask this one more time because I am trying to figure out whether it is worth calling back to WDW DINE one more time to make one more PS for a breakfast at Boma.

Plus it was worth bumping up the Amber Alert too.

Has anyone not had a PS and not had any problems? I know all the wise words of getting a PS but I am lazy and am not toally sure this is what we want to do. I am thinking pretty early in the morning for breakfast. What do you all think?

I will throw in my 2 cents. My family stayed at AKL for a week in mid-May 2003. We did eat at Boma for breakfast once, and for dinner once, during that stay. We also walked past Boma numerous times each day, as you have to pass it to go out to the pool and to the food court. Let me just say that every time we passed that place, during dining hours, it was an absolute zoo, with many people waiting outside the restaurant to be seated. And, mid-May is not a peak travel time at WDW. So, I would say, if you really want to eat here, make a PS as soon as you settle on your dining time.

I was at Boma in December and booked my breakfast PS the day before. I actually walked downstairs and made it directly with the hostess at Boma... Didn't have any problems getting the time that we wanted. If you're worried, you can always book ahead of time :)

We have gone to Boma twice for dinner (I know original poster asked about breakfast). Once was mid-September last year and once was mid-January this year. Neither time did we have PS. In January (the 20th), we arrived at 5 p.m. and there was 1 solo diner present. We were seated in about 5 minutes. Last September, we got there around 6:30 p.m. and it took us about 15 minutes to be seated (there were about 30 people already seated and dining). Each time, we must've timed it just right because about halfway through our dinners the place was packed. I asked our servers how breakfast was and they said it all depended on when you got there.
We tend to make PS for places we REALLY want to go to right now because our DD is still a toddler (and toddlers aren't known for being patient waiting; although Boma/AKL have good distractions!)

i think sometimes it depends on the day of the week as well. i stayed at akl last may and had made 2 ps's for breakfast and one for dinner at boma. i had an early dinner (5:30) and had no problem being seated, but the place was mobbed with people when i left about 6:30. for breakfast, on a thursday it was a fairly quiet and relaxing. i couldn't believe the difference when i returned on saturday. i waited about a half hour past my ps time to be seated and it was very crowded, tons of people still waiting for a table when i left. i suppose it would be busier weekends in general when more people are arriving and leaving from their vacation? i would make a ps just in case, you can always cancel it if you change your plans.

we were just at AKL from 1/24-1/27. we showed up without a PS at boma for breakfast on saturday 1/24 at 7:30am and boma was deserted.

we got a table by the window with no wait.

on the other hand, for dinner at 6:30pm on sunday 1/25, we had a PS so we only waited 20 minutes for a table. i think the wait without a PS was 2 hours.

if you're going in a more crowded season, it couldn't hurt to make a PS.
