We have a PS at 1900 Park Fare for 8:10 p.m. for dinner. I would like something earlier, but have been calling every day with no luck. They are completly booked.

Do people bother to cancel a PS if it is not held by a credit card?

Any suggestions?

If we showed up earlier, would we still most likely have to wait until 8:10?

Don't know about other people, but I do cancel... because there are other people who might need the spot.

We always try to call and cancel if we are not going. I can only think of 1 occasion we were not able to make it to our ps and unable to call. I do think many try to call and cancel.

You don't have to call and cancel. From allearsnet.com:

"The PS system was created so that no shows wouldn't affect how people are seated in the park restaurants. If you don't check in for your PS, you will not be put into the cue and the next available party will take your place."

It's also ok if you get there early. I once got to a PS an hour early b/c I got the times mixed up. They just put you into the computer when you check in.

What Stephanie said about getting there earlier. We've gone to restaurants earlier sometimes and asked if we could try and get in earlier than our PS time. We've done this a number of times, basically because we were starved LOL! They will most likely put you in the cue, and you should be ok. It can't hurt to try.

And by the way - We do cancel PS if our plans change, we just feel it's the right thing to do.

We try to call. I guess it depends at what restaurant you are trying to get into eat. We've seen people turned away at Le Cellier who didn;t have PSs.

I also cancel. It is easy to do from your room, any guest service counter, any pay phone in the parks (free call) or the podium of full service restaurants.

I would try again though about a week before you want to dine as well as the day before and day that you want to dine. More spots seem to magicaly open up closer to the date but I've never figured out the exact time frame.

I think alot of folks do cancel, but some, not to the last moment. I am holding 2 reservations for Chef Mickeys for a party of 8 for Oct. 22 and 24 at 5:00PM. I know I will cancel one, we just don't know which night we want to do the MNSSHP. I have no problem holding 2 ressies, because I got up 90 days before each date to make the ressies, the same opportunity everyone else had. When traveling with a large group, it's tough to pinpoint a day and walkins just don't happen with that size party. So I imagine, someone out there will be happy when we cancel our second ressie.

Thanks - 10/22 is also when we are trying to get an earlier time. It is my DD 6th birthday.

I will call closter to the date and try to get an earlier ressie, and if not, we will just go earlier and try our luck.

I didn't realize that the time we are going is so busy (MNSSHP, EPCOT Food and Wine). One CM said a golf tournament with Tiger Wood was also during that time.

MNSSHP is probably why the earlier times are gone.

We cancel too! While I agree that in most cases everyone just moves up the queue a little faster because someone doesn't show up, we've also seen people turned away without a PS. I would hate to think that somebody else missed the opportunity to dine in a popular restaurant because I neglected to cancel. Some of our cancellations are really early (e.g. at the 70 day mark) because I've been tweaking my plans. Others end up being made the same day e.g. because on our last trip DS became quite ill with bronchitis. Most of the time we manage to make all our PSes, though.

When we've shown up early for a PS on a few occasions we've almost always been popped into the queue at that point. The only exception I can think of is at 'Ohana. However, it would depend upon how busy the restaurant is that night. I would think you'd have a lot more luck moving OUT of prime hours, rather than IN to prime hours.

Cheers,

I try to call to cancel any PS that I waffle about using. DH is used to it by now. First he used to say not to bother. Now he just does it.

I still feel that my cancellations make it easier for someone else to get a meal.........

I cancel as well whenever possible. I would want someone else to get that seating confimed in advace so they can make their firm plans - just like I do.
