I'm very very vomit-phobic. I hate seeing people throw up in front of me. (Well, I can handle DD when she gets sick, which is weird.) So how likely am I to see anything like this in Disney World? Have you had any experience with random vomiting (yours or somebody else's)?

Yes, I know this is a weird question, but I really really really hate seeing people puke.

I have been going to WDW since 1982 (since birth) at least once a year and I have NEVER seen anyone throw up in the last 23 (almost 24) years. On the other hand - I have seen many throw up at local fair's. . . but never WDW!

Try to avoid the bathrooms next to Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom...they always reek of vomit! There is always someone in there mopping up splats. I haven't actually seen one in action, but that would probably be the place it would happen.

We have been 4 times, and we have never seen anyone puke. So it seems to me that it happens less there then at a fair or regular amusement park. I would try not to worry to much about it, and just not hang out around Primeval Whril and the Teacups! :)

In 2004 I convinced my then 78 yr old Mom to ride the ToT and she blew chunks shortly thereafter. That's my only vomit related Disney anecdote after 8 trips and 60 + park days.

This past January, I witnessed a child physically get sick last while waiting on Main Street for Wishes to begin. Once it happened Cast Members appeared from all directions to put speedy-dry on it, however, once they put the speedy dry down they left, and people were walking through it, etc. It was awful. Being 4 months pregnant I had to get away from that as quickly as possible.

I saw an older man puke in the trees at AK. We were on our way to lunch...yummy. Even though I did not touch the man or step in it I still sanitized myself! Little OCD!

I don't know anyone who *likes* seeing people puke. :confused3 It's just something that happens sometimes.

I have seen lots of vomitting at Disney, lucky me! At rides, at restaurants, in bathrooms, just out in the open. Very strange really, it has become a joke - you know like train spotting... barf spotting.

I suggest the OP does not travel to Disney when I am there.

I was about to say that even having worked at Epcot for four months in college I had never seen anyone throw up, until I remembered that I had once...ME...in Epcot Germany. Ick. I had a little too many different kinds of wine at F&W that evening. oh well, not many people can say they spilled protein all over Germany.
But other than that, I haven't seen anything. I guess it's luck of the draw!

Twice...in one trip!
The first was after Mission Space, this poor woman was hurling while her young daughter stood beside her asking, "Are you OK, Mommy?"

The second was a young boy (about 8), he was vomiting as we waited in line for the bus to take us back to the resort...The bus pulled up, he and his parents got on and we waited for the next bus!!! There was no way, we were getting on that one!

unfortunately my daughter did 2x when we were at wdw in october. the first was at beaches and cream and she simply ate too much (she's 2, btw). the second time was at 1900 parke faire, same daughter, it was a very hot day and she was overheated. I felt so bad for those around us, although thankfully most were very understanding and even helpful.

OT: ... should be scooped up with something like a sheet of cardboard as best as possible and discarded separately before the mop is brought out.

OT; I had this fiendish idea of dropping some (washable) ink in a vomit puddle. This way whoever was mopping it up will see that the mop will continue to reek of vomit until all of the coloration has been rinsed out.

In case of vomit illness, fast but drink plenty of water. (copied from another post) Fewer children would be dragged sick about the parks if Disney would give credits or rainchecks for unused meals, admission, etc. (quoting from a memo I got a hold of while in college) "Meal plan pricing takes absenteeism into account." Except this philosophy does not encourage people to isolate themselves when ill.

>>> it was a hot day and she was overheated ...
Were you walking too fast for her to comfortably keep up??

Once when my brother and I were little we were walking around in the dark with a flashlight and he shone the light beam on some vomit and then said he had to shine the beam all over the place to clean it off.

nope, we had travelled from our hotel (y/c) to the mk, then headed by monorail to the GF. Florida was having a heat wave...it was really, really hot, at least for october and definitely for us. we were all pretty pink cheeked by the time we were in the cool of the restaurant. we were seated immediately and dd sucked down a ton of milk (the waitress was very prompt). I think the combo of the overheating and the quickness of the milk intake caused it. I was off at the buffet getting food for the kids, so I missed most of the show, dh and the staff and some very kind people at the tables near us had it all taken care of by the time I got back...even though I was only gone for a few minutes. I ran upstairs and bought her a new outfit and changed her and she was good as new...was pretty hungry, actually, and acted like it never happened.

:rotfl2: Protein spills........I had to click on this thread just to see where this thread was going. :rotfl2:

I have wiffed past spills at various areas at WDW, but never had the "pleasure" of seeing an episode. Then again, I don't hang out at PI on a Saturday night.

My dd had a "protein spill" outside the YC/BC pool - NOT IN the pool.. but when we were having lunch nearby, she was just coming down with that stomach bug,and it is a crazy thing, it hits you out of no where.. ( I myself am witness to that!!) and we immediately took her up to the room for the rest of the day. (Also, we had her do it into a towel that we threw out after.. so hardly none was visible to anyone, or was on the concrete.. Unfortuately, sometimes this stuff just happens.
