Protecting the scalp from the sun (besides wearing hats)?

DS3 will have no problem wearing his "Prince Charming" hat while at Disney World, but DS-14-months usually takes his hat right off, so even though he will be in the stroller with the shade down, I need to protect that delicate scalp from the sun! Can I use sunblock on the scalp? Is there something special they make? I would like to put it on both their scalps, just in case of any meltdowns regarding wearing the hat! Hey, you never know!! ;)

I just take the lotion and rub it on my DDs' scalps. I don't worry about my DS so much since he doesn't have a part to get fried! Still, for a young toddler who I'm assuming doesn't have hair "normal" thickness yet, I'd put some on. His hair might look a bit greasy, but don't sweat it!

Pardon the lame pun. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :lmao:

I'm not worried about the greasy hair thing, he's a little toddler, not a teenager trying to pick up girls!! :rotfl2:

I will do the sunblock on the scalp. Also for DS3 I think it would be a good idea...knowing him, he could easily have a meltdown if I make him wear his hat and he is not in the mood to at that very moment for whatever reason! ;)

There is a scalp spray sunblock for babies. I think it's made by Baby Blanket, but I could be wrong about that. I do recall that it's in a pink bottle. I use it on my DD8's scalp where she parts her hair and I used it all over DS 18 mos head when we were in WDW. He also won't keep a hat on and he has blonde hair and very fair skin. The spray worked like a charm.

I'm not the OP, but thank you! My scalp gets sunburned, especially at WDW, but I didn't know there was anything at all out there I could use.

I just purchased Banana Boat quick dry Sport Body and Scalp spray today. It is spf30 - rub free clear spray. Supposed to be ultra Sweatproof, waterproof, and non greasy. I haven't tried it yet.. but hope it works since DH is "thinning" :rotfl2:

Regular spray sunblock works for my kids scalps. I gave it a try since finding the scalp sunblock is so hard around here. There hair looks fine, not dirty at all.;)
It lasts long too. My kids are in our pool for hours and I only reapply it a few times.

I have always used the Banana Boat Sport spray in the orange bottle without a problem. However, this year they added scalp to the title of the product and it seams a little greasier than in the past. It definitely leaves the hair shiny. I discovered Kidspot by Ocean Potion (it come in a stick that rolls on) and LOVE it! I use it on the kids, myselft (scalp, ears, etc) and have no problems with it being greasy, etc. I purchased it for around $5 at WalMart.

Coppertone Sport Spray comes in 70spf broad spectrum, sprays on fast and easy and dries on contact. Great for scalp to toe! No greasy look or feel to hair with it, either.

DS5 has had a mohawk for over a year now, and likes to keep his sides and back of his head shaved really short. But he knows that the consequence of that is having to have sun block put on his head. A trade off he's very willing to make. I think he likes to shock the adults he passes on the street when he has it spiked up:lmao: I just rub the regular lotion on the head as I am getting his face, neck and ears.
