Hello.

What are the differences between the dedicated and lock-out rooms?

Any major differences in SSR?

Thanks

If you have friends staying with you, a lock off can provide them privacy. They enter and exit through their own door instead of the one you use.

But if you have a larger family and need the space for your children, a dedicated will provide just the extra sleeping space and no extra exit out of the second bedroom portion. So you don't have to worry about the kids escaping during the night out of their bedroom.

The lock off will have its own kitchenette. The dedicated won't.

The dedicated will have a good chance at having two queen beds vs a lockoff which will always have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa (except for OKW which always has two queen beds in the second bedroom AND BWV which has no dedicated two bedrooms AND BCV which only has 25 dedicated two bedrooms with two queen beds - the rest have the bed/sleeper sofa set up).

At OKW, the dedicated two bedroom has an extra closet in the second bedroom, plus a second bathroom sink where the kitchenette would be.

Lockoffs will have two balconies. Dedicated might only have one.

Unless you specifically need a second entrance, I'd go with a dedicated two bedroom unit. The separate entrance/kitchenette eat up a LOT of usable space.

Are there dedicated 2 bedrooms in Jambo House at AKLV? I am thinking yes since our reservation says LO for our 2 bedroom. I hate being new to all of this ;)

Unless I'm mistaken, all of the 2 br in Jambo house are Lock-Offs. There will be some dedicated 2 br in the new Kidani building.

There aren't any dedicated 2 bedrooms in Jambo. There will be dedicated 2 bedrooms with 2 Q's in Kidani. I made sure to ask that question before we bought AKV points!

Here are some general rules-of-thumb regarding lockoff vs. dedicated...particularly at SSR:

Lockoff:
Queen bed plus full-size sofebed in second bedroom
Kitchenette in second bedroom
Two entrances
Two thermostats
Two phone lines
Two balconies (living room and second bedroom)

Dedicated:
Two queen beds in second bedroom
More closet space (no kitchenette)
One entrance
One thermostat
One phone line (calls ring to all phones in the villa)
One balcony

As "Deb & Bill" said, a lockoff may work best if you're hosting guests who want some degree of independence. Booking a lockoff 2B will cost fewer points than a Studio and 1B booked separately. The lockoff merely has a connecting door between the two units. Both parties have to unlock their side to allow traffic to pass thru.

Don't know about dedicated 2 bdrm at Jambo House, but, I know there are dedicated studios there. We had one mid May and I really liked it because we had the wardrobe AND a closet. I'm assuming the closet was where the lockoff door would normally go. It really gave us some extra space, which was nice. We had a place to store our luggage rather than leaving it out in the room.

There is one adendum to Tjkraz info....ALL second bedrooms at OKW will have 2 queen beds, no matter if lock off or dedicated.
