pros/cons of Coronado Springs???

We have stayed at POR twice and are trying CSR on our next trip for a change. Only two things I am hesitant about with CSR: Pepper Market... not crazy about being seated, having to tip, and relying on a server to get drinks. We love the POR food court so I hope the Pepper Market concept isn't a big deal. And second, the Rix Lounge... definitely not a casual lounge like POR and the dress code makes me think we may never use it.

What IS the dress code? I didn't realize there was one.

Convention s big con

Remember though this con is also the biggest Pro....How you say? because bus service is phenomenal...Never ever crowded .....because conventioners aren't rope drop type of people...lol

I am in the middle of the same internal debate! POR vs CSR. Here are a couple things I am considering:

Pro: Longest waterslide of all the Disney resorts
Pro: Pepper Market is supposed to be really good QS meals
Pro: Sliding wood doors separating bathroom Vanity (vs curtain at POR)

Con: Pool bar closes at 6pm (although they have another outdoor lounge overlooking the lake that is open late- just nothing there for the kids to do there)
Con: Preferred rooms are closer to Peppermarket, yet FAR from Dig Site Pool. And if you go to a section close to the pool, you are now far from the Peppermarket.

I'll be watching this thread!

Not true about water slides deluxes have longer ones. The jib at yc bc is 230, Luna pool at bw slide us 200, Coronado's slide is only 123

It still gives you the food court feel. But best of sll is you have your seat pre-food. So usually when you're at the values or POR ( which is always busy )then you have to trek around w/ a big tray of food lurking for the next table..

Also Don't get fooled by the word: TIPPING. Your're not tipping like an average meal. For our family of four, we usually leave' em a $5. roughly $1 per person but it's just easier to leave a $5..>Well worth it & not very expensive at all.

For 1 the sanity of getting your food & immediately sitting and eating...
2. never ending refills that you don't have to get up and refill yourselves.
3. No cleanup...

Longer than both at AKL ( a Deluxe ), & BLT ( a Deluxe ) WL , POLY,

Basically CSR is equivalent to a Deluxe Lite.....BEst of all worlds for a great price...

True it's not so in your face Disney , but it definitely doesn't lack the Magic....If we didn't buy DVC in 2011 This would by far be my Home resort of choice...For price value & overall feel.:thumbsup2

Just stayed at CSR for the 1st time this past weekend. I loved it and my only other other on-site resort experiences have been Deluxe (BC, CR, & Dolphin). Quiet, beautiful, good restaurants, great room. Definitely would love to stay there again. :thumbsup2

I hope we didn't violate any dress code there on Friday night when we showed up in jeans & sneakers. We returned late from shopping and the Maya Grill closed 10PM (and we didn't want counter service) so we ordered several appetizers (and beverages :drinking1) at Rix Lounge. Food, bartenders were excellent! :goodvibes

Have a great vacation! :)

don't switch! POR is incredible! we couldn't decide between POR and CSR either when we were booking, but we chose POR and i am so glad we did. we ended up staying at CSR for one day at the end of our trip because our flight back to toronto was cancelled due to a snowstorm. i was so much less impressed with CSR. i mean, the grounds and landscaping were beautiful, the lake was lovely, but i was pretty let down by the rooms overall. they seemed pretty dated and we were in a preferred building. there wasn't even a duvet or big blanket on the bed, just sheets and one thin blanket! plus the bathroom left something to be desired. i know POR was very recently renovated but i found it so much nicer. plus, that pepper market ... what is up with that place?! 10% surcharge, no thanks. just switch to an AB room. they are so nice and more boyish if you're worried about the princess theming!

We love CSR, and it is our moderate of choice.

Pros:

Best pool and slide of all the moderates
Efficient bus service, and buses are rarely crowded
Very comfortable beds
Sliding doors at vanity for privacy and to block light and noise from sleeping kids when getting ready in the morning
Only moderate with room service, a fitness center, spa, salon, and nightclub
Good dining choices
Very quiet and relaxing
Pepper Market has upscale choices for a QS location and is a great value on the DDP. Servers seat you and bring your drinks - no searching for a table with trays of food, and no plastic utensils. Real silverware and cloth napkins.
If you are there during a convention, buses and the pool are very uncrowded.

Cons (sort of):

Pepper Market is a bit more expensive than traditional food courts if paying out of pocket (but the choices are nicer)
10% surcharge at Pepper Market unless you take food to go, but you can eat at the tables by the lake without the server surcharge. It is worth it to us to pay the 10% to know we have a table and to have our drinks refilled, but not everyone agrees.
Cafe Rix (Grab n Go) is small for a resort of CSR's size

Conventions are generally a pro, because the buses and the pools are much less crowded since some of the guests are working. In the past, there has been a very large convention once a year at CSR that took over the grounds, but that convention has moved away from CSR. Occasionally, a convention might have an event on the grounds, but most conventions do not impact leisure guests at all.

This has been a very informative thread. Like the OP, I have been going back and forth about where to stay (POR vs CSR). We are currently booked with a pin at POR royal room for our September trip. If FD comes out...we are switching to CSR!! (my pin was 30% at POR and only 5% at CSR)

Thank you to the CSR regulars who gave helpful information here. :-)
I will keep watching this thread!

Pros:
Great pool area
Pepper Market
Spacious rooms with queen beds
Fabulous, efficient bus service
Beautiful grounds
Value for the price

Cons:
Didn't feel as "Disney" as other places we have stayed
Conventions (if you happen to hit a big one...none when we were there)
Spread out, but this can be OK, depending on where your room is (recommend Casitas 5 or Cabanas 8, depending on your preference for aesthetics)

This sums up my list of pros and cons perfectly! My main con was a matter of opinion, it just lacked a little Disney feel to me - so I prefer Port Orleans Riverside in the moderate category over CS - but definitely this is just my opinion and it was awesome. The biggest pro for me was super bus service - even at peak!
