Hi smidgy,

Questions regarding DLR are better asked within that sub-forum, as Disneyland doesn't get much play here and the DLR faithful tend to stay in there most of the time.

That said from the DLT forum, there are some fantastic sticky threads that can help.

First, there is a superthread around DLR ground transportation here, including various car services, rental agencies and other options.

In addition, HydroGuy has a fantastic series of threads for WDW vets traveling West. I highly recommend them, and as you will see, planning isn't as intense as Florida. That said remember two words: Wide Right ;) Look that up and life will be happy in Carsland.

Finally, head over to the Disneyland board and let the feast of knowledge begin! :thumbsup2

Good luck, and have fun at Walt's other park. :lmao:

I've done both, it depends on the circumstances.

SNA is closer to DL and is smaller, easier to get around. Car rental on-site.

LAX typically has more flight choices. It's huge and very busy. Car rental requires a shuttle.

I used LAX this past week because they had a red-eye flight that I wanted after D23. For SNA, I would have had to leave early or stay over. So flight schedules are a factor.

I also look at fares and if I'm using a frequent flyer ticket, miles required.

Grocery stop will only be possible if you have a town car or similar.

SNA is close and its all in a straight line, but if you have a flight all the way at one end the walk feels long.

With LAX you land in one sort of "pod" and your bags come off there then you go outside. It's hard to drop someone off or pick them up, but being a traveler is pretty straight forward IMO.

I like Karmel Shuttle but have also used Super Shuttle and Disneyland Resort Express. We have also rented cars from both airports.

I usually attend a medical conference at the Anaheim Convention center, which is across the street from Disneyland. I like using SNA, but haven't flown into LAX for this conference. I don't usually rent a car, because I am really only going to the conference. You can book Supershuttle for less than $20. A Taxi trip is about $35-40 before tip. When I went to the conference, I went to DL in the evenings. You can get a resort shuttle, which will take you from in front of various resorts to the parking lot at DL, and leaves about every 20 minutes. As I remember, it was about $4 or so each way. I stayed at the Anaheim Hilton for my conference, which really is walking distance to DL, but, since I was going to be out after dark, I took the shuttle just to be safer than walking in a strange city at night. I am glad I did, because one evening there was quite a lot of police activity on the road just outside of DL. Not sure what was going on, but was glad I was on a bus, and not on foot.

Also, the hotels in Anaheim don't have shuttles to SNA, the way that O'Hare has shuttles to many of the hotels in Rosemont.

I like SNA because it's smaller and easier to navigate. It also seemed easier to get out of with the rental.

LAX was a mess. Lots of traffic, construction, getting to it was a pain for me and luckily I didn't have to deal with a rental car there but it took the person who was an hour to get it returned.

Give me SNA over LAX any day.
