Pro's And Con's of being Forward or AFT?

What are the pros and Cons of either being far forward or very close to the back? We will be on the Fantasy.

I have been on the Fantasy is a great ship and it has the latest technology and stabilizers and overall is great.

There are some reported issues of some vibration at high speed or going in and out of port in all decks.

Yes forward cuts into the waves and the ship acts like a child playground seesaw so the middle is the best, forward is the worst and aft the next worse after that.

But they avoid bad weather wherever possible movement is normally slight and actually nice, to sleep to, the first night out of port canaveral crossing the gulf stream is the worst.

You will spend most of your time on the top decks the pool decks and only sleep in your room so overall location doesn't matter, just get fresh air and look at the horizon if you feel ill.

PROS there off the beaten track so there is less cruisers walking past, and therefore your not disturbed that way.

We prefer Forward. While you do feel the motion of the waves it is hardly like a seesaw. When we cruise we like to know that we are on a ship at sea. We like a little motion and Forward is great for that. Again, unless you have unusually rough seas the motion will not be extreme.

We have stayed Aft once and it was fine, but we much prefer Forward. Midship is okay as well, but you get the least amount of motion there so it isn't for us.

We were in the aft of the Fantasy last summer and there was a LOT of engine vibration. It really took some getting used to. The year prior we mid (closer to front) on the Dream and it was like we were in our living room. I will avoid the aft at all costs on future sailings.

We've stayed both forward and aft and prefer forward. Our aft room had a lot of vibration and noise when we pulled into ports.

Love the feedback. We deck 2 as of now and very forward.

We have stayed AFT on the Magic Deck 6. Love the location, but it is very loud and lots of vibration when backing into ports. Woke me, but DD and DH slept through it every time. Wouldn't stop me from booking as long as I am the only one up I get some me time on our balcony!

People have different reactions to how much, and where, they feel the most movement. We were midship and I felt it worse than my friends who were aft. And I felt that motion wherever I was on the ship, really. I think sometimes it's the person's individual reaction.

There are other factors to take into account. Midship was in the center of everything -- but that's just it, it was in the center of everything. The midship elevators can get ridiculously busy. And you're always going to one end of the ship or the other. For us, we'd rather be forward, next time, because forward puts us closest to the adult-only areas (pool, Satellite Falls, Cove Cafe) and the theatre. Some might like aft because it's closer to the clubs and the restaurants. It depends on what you want to be near.

We prefer aft over forward but midship is THE room booking priority for my prone-to-motion-sickness honey. It's what works best for us but we have to do aft on the classic ships. Such is life.

We've stayed both fore, mid, and aft, and like all three for different reasons.

Aft was great for us when it was the whole family - quick trip up for food and drinks, and the lack of foot traffic made the rooms really quiet.

Mid was great for ease of location, but there were always folk traipsing past our doorway at all hours.

Fore was great for an adults-only cruise, as we spent pretty much all of our free time by the adult pool.

Most of my family aren't too sensitive to motion, the only time that my eldest DD felt a bit green was after we came back from a shore excursion where the water was very choppy. She was fine by the next day.

I ADORE being as far forward as possible!! Yes, there's often a gentle rocking motion, but I love it and it helps me sleep sooooooo well!!! I don't even like considering elsewhere on the ship because I know I love forward.

We were aft on the Fantasy last January! Love it!

Cons - there were some vibrations, pretty much just when pulling into port. Didn't bother us, but it may others. I guess that's the only con!

Pros:

- LOCATION! We were on deck 6, for reference. Down the stairs to the clubs easily, down the stairs to Animator's and Royal Court. Up straight into Cabanas. Down to the clubs. Yes, you're not mid, but everything mid ship is close, and a lot of stuff is aft. The only thing you're further from than if you were forward is the Walt Disney Theater.
- Less foot traffic, especially if you're aft of the elevators, so quiet.
