Ok so we've boiled it down to two resorts - POR or CBR?
We need help with the pros and cons....

We've stayed at neither resort....but we did like PORFQ and POP which we have stayed at.

A moderate is our choice this trip!

POR hands down.

Same size resort, but CBR configuration means that rooms are farther away from the main building than POR.

Bus stops are across the parking lot and you have to walk through it to get to the buildings. At POR, you have a short walk from the bus stop through the parking lot and then you are under the cover of the aisleways along the buildings.

Food court and restaurant does not compare, POR is by far better.

Love the theming at POR.

The next person will come along and tell you that they hate POR and love CBR. There are usually at least one thread on this per week; as a matter of fact there was a similar one yesterday where I posted.

I suggest you look at both official threads and decide which one works for you.

Missytara,

This is EXCELLENT info. Just what I wanted to read... esp about the busses and walking distance.

Which pool is better though? In late Sept I'm not sure we want to be doing all our walking at our resort when I know we'll be walking the parks enough :rotfl:

Thanks!

CBR has the advantage of the zero entry main pool, depending on the age of your children. I think the POR main pool is better for older children.

I also prefer the lounge at the Pool at POR.

They both have multiple quiet pools, so that is pretty even/steven. Since I often go solo, I prefer the quiet pools anyway, and the laundry is always right there, which is nice to do a quick load of clothes mid-week with a down day from the parks.

POR has the advantage of allowing the use of the POFQ pool as well, since they are sister resorts, so that is a slight advantage.

Two things I did forget to add; POR has Yee-hah Bob in the lounge from 8:00 to midnight Wednesday through Sunday; Eliot Dyson is over at POFQ, same hours.

Also, the advantage of having the water taxi to and from DTD. I always make ADR's at the resorts for dinner to end my evening. I take the resort bus back to the bus hub at the Marketplace. Then I take the water taxi back to POR. There is an advantage, because I have never waited more than 20 minutes at a resort for a DTD bus and the water taxis run every ten minutes after 4:00 pm. I have never waited more than five minutes for the water taxi back.

Beats having to remember how late the parks are open, then take a parks bus from the resort and then pick up your resort bus from the parks.

Both are nice resorts but I agree POR has the advantage- just has a little more to offer.

Newly refirbed rooms, with queen beds
Boat to DTD
Evening entertainment in the lounge
better food court
Horse & Carriage rides
Fishing Hole
Mansion section is our fav
Better Marina, CBR lake is really too small to bother with boat rentals.

2 households in my family are planning a vacation next year and want to stay at a Mod this time. Does POR (POFQ) or CBR have connecting rooms? I do realize that connecting rooms are not guaranteed. Just would be nice to go into another room when the little ones are sleeping/napping.

Thanks

Yes, they all have some connecting rooms.

Both resorts have connecting rooms.

I suggest you make that your only request. Do not do online check-in. When you arrive, reiterate all you want is connecting rooms and you will wait for them to become available. It all depends on how busy the resort is.

We were hoping last year and snagged them by doing it this way. Our rooms were available at check-in around 11:00 am. I am sure it did help slightly that we were celebrating the return of one of our party from Afghanistan just two weeks before we arrived.....:goodvibes Disney seems to have a big heart for the military.....

Having stayed at both, our family prefers CBR. We just like the feel of CBR better.

It is so laid back and relaxing that it feels like you really get a break from the craziness of the parks.

Even when it's at full capacity, it doesn't feel like it. Unless you are at OPR or the main pool, it feels like you have the place to yourself.

The size and layout of CBR is one of it's strong points to us. It's an awesome balance between being spread out and yet you never have to walk far. We have never stayed in a preferred location and have had a 5 minute walk to OPR/Main Pool and 2-3 minute walk to the bus stops.

We like the food court at CBR better. The way it's laid out is easier for your group to split up and get whatever they want and then meet in the middle and pay.

Our son just loves the CBR pool and slides.

Don't get me wrong, POR is a fantastic resort too. We just prefer CBR for the above reasons. Have fun!!

Without getting anyone ticked off at me, I'm just not a big fan of cbr that's all. To me ,if u would like a tropical feel my suggestion is go to an island or such. With that being said POR wins hands down. A lot more to offer . If i had my choice CSR is the best mod i think Not sure if u researched this resort. To me this mod feels like a deluxe.

I've never stayed @ POR so I can't judge it fully.

We have stayed @ CBR 3 times, hopefully this year will be our 4th. I love CBR for many reasons.

The pool is wonderful, the bigger kids will like the slides and pirate theme, while the little ones will like the kiddie pool area also with pirate theme.

I have always enjoyed the food court, but we have really only eaten breakfast, snacks and a dinner or 2 since dinners are usually a TS meal somewhere for us. My daughter's favorite is the chicken nuggets and fries in the beach pale. They have a little market area too to buy milk, water, packaged foods etc.

I love the theme, OPR always has the Caribbean music playing. Every morning we sit outside and eat our breakfast, its just very relaxing, kinda like on your on island time, which is nice when your rushing all around WDW.

We have never had problems with transportation. Only time we did was with the marketplace, but we always had problems no matter where we have stayed coming home from there. Last year we just took our car LoL.

The thing that turned me off about POR was the theme, I thought my daughter would be scared of the masks and court gestures, but thats how she is.

We were leaning towards POR for our trip in June but was not available during our chosen week. So we are returning to CBR!!! I loved that resort too. We had a wonderful time in June 2007. We have stayed at all the moderates except CSR. Not interested in the Mexico/Santa Fe decor especially some areas look so HOT especially because we travel in June. POFQ is lovely too. I love the bright colors pf CBR:woohoo:
