We just returned from our trip today and rode MS four times while we were there. While I'm glad they now offer a choice for those who aren't thrill seekers, I hope Disney keeps both versions around and doesn't whimp out.

How about some props from those who love the original Mission Space...that line all week was full of people who absolutely loved it and we rode it twice in a row one day.....just can't get enough.

Now all I need is a contraption like that to play my playstation fighter jet games on...now THAT would be a fun fun game wouldn't it?

Lets here it for the original guys, this ride does not need to go away completely, please don't let this one fall into the memory books of great rides that are no more.....

What props are you talking about? Did they change the whole inside or something?

Hi Joe Black,

My DH, DD, and DS are in total agreement with you. They are big MS fans and don't want to lose the original. I think what is called for is an email campaign to Disney. These boards are great, but I think your best bet is to make sure "the Mouse" hears how you feel. We also would be upset to lose the original version and plan to let Disney know.

Here's hoping!

Given that there's only one G free version while they still have 3 originals, I think they'll keep M:S open. There are quite a few people who love the original version and can take it's intensity.

I love the orginal version. The more intense the better. I remember riding this just before it opened for soft openings and it was even more intense then it is now. They really cranked it down to make what they are now calling the "intense" version of the ride OK for the masses. Then, Disney crumbles and offers the "wimpy" version of the ride.

I think now that there is a choice they need to crank up the intense version back up a few degrees.

Enjoy the ride everyone!

Our family loves it, but I think my DD holds the record. Last year (age 14) she rode it 10 times in a row!

Props in this case means proper respect/recognition.

As for me, I rode M:S just a couple weeks ago, and I thought it was fantastic! It didn't feel like I was spinning at all; I just felt the G-forces. Plus, I didn't get the slightest bit sick.

I don't understand why everyone makes a big deal out of MS. The Gravitron at the Myrtle Beach Pavillion is just as intense (spins you until you rise off the floor), and we both think TOT is way more intense than MS. Also, for those who aren't aware, the Kennedy Space Center has a centrifuge just like MS only without the high dollar frills.......it spins up way more G's than MS and I haven't heard a complaint one.

The big question is this.....God forbid something does happen to someone while riding the "Lite" version, what will happen then???? Someone had a heart attack on TOT, another woman died on Pirates and another on the Haunted Mansion, yet no news networks made any big deal out of it like they do MS.

We both agree with the above poster, now that there's a "lite" version, lets crank the intense version up the way it was when the ride first opened......let the fun begin!!!

I love the original Mission Space. My DW couldn't handle it. It was yoo intense. I was a little surprised when I told her that they were going to have a "tame" Mission Space and asked her if she would want to ride it. Her reply was that she was not interested. That's ok. I am still going to ride it.

I also love the original MS. I love spinning rides such as the Gravitron and the Scrambler - MS just takes these rides up a notch. I am happy that people with medical problems and motion sickness now have a choice, but I am afraid for the future of the original version. If the new version has long waits and the original has none, there is a chance that they will do away with it.
And just as a personal rant - what has bothered me for the longest time about the MS debate is the fear-mongering. There have been two unfortunate deaths connected with MS, but that has turned into a "this ride is a death trap" mentality, especially in the media. MS is no worse in thrills or intensity than most carnival/amusement park rides. Many examples have been sited such as the Gravitron and yet we don't hear "I will not step near that thing because it causes death." As someone who hates steep drops, it pains me to miss out on Splash Mountain or ToT, both rides I have done in the past. I came off of them shaking, near tears, and having to rest on a park bench for a little while. I am sure there are countless others who feel "unwell" after riding these attractions and we know that there was a death in connection with ToT. But yet there is no hype about these attractions. Society in general, and especially the media, tend to get overexcited about things before learning all the facts. In non-Disney terms, this has led to a t.v. movie about how we are all going to die from bird flu, news warnings that everyone around us is a potential terrorist, and that all big corporations are out to get us. There are truths within these reports, but it has been so overinflated that it just gets everyone into a tizzy. So it is with MS. :sad2:
Ok, off my soapbox now. Again, happy to hear that there is a choice for those who need it. My very pukey sister will be happy to ride and I hope this improves Disney's image in the media. :thumbsup2 I just hope this does not signal the end of the "thrill" ride.
