Proposal...

Hello all,

I'm planning on proposing to my girlfriend of 4 years during our trip to Disney in a few months. I've been online and looked at some suggestions on where to do it but can't find the perfect place.

The thing is, she's not too fond of the spotlight and the suggestions I've read involve being infront of a lot of people (I guess, though, that if i'm going to propose at Disney, it's a given that it'll be full of people

Anyway, any ideas on romantic and quiet places around Disney where one might be able to be somewhat alone (besides at our SSR home) or is this just a pipe dream?

World Showcase in Epcot is the loveliest place in the World, IMO, for a romantic stroll. Depending on what the dates of your trip are, you might be able to find many places where you can be somewhat alone (if it's not peak season). The fountain in Paris is nice. There are some tables with umbrellas near Morroco I think. I think there are some gardens you can walk through, too, but I can't recall where they might be. Anyone know? Canada or Japan perhaps?

My son proposed to his girlfriend last year at the Gazebo at the Yacht and Beach Club. His now fiance said it was very romantic.

Hi!

I think that a FW carriage ride(there is one at POs too) at dusk would be a great place to propose.
There would only be the driver and you go through the woods.( at PO you go around the two resorts, by the river)
I have never been, (we were going to go on our 30th Ann., but it got rained out) but I have heard it is really romantic.
You can bring a bottle of champaine(you can buy one at the store at FW)with plastic wineglasses.
If you let them know ahead of time (when you call to make resservations)and Im sure they would be glad to help with anything you need to have arranged. Let us all know how you did propose and how it was when you get back!

But why not take her to one of the resorts and find a quiet place in a garden or beach or whatever and propose then? You might have better luck with privacy at one of the resorts rather than the parks. Good luck whatever you choose!

There's a garden behind England that's usually empty (except when the band British Invasion is playing). The waterfall in Canada is nice. Tom Sawyer's island can be pretty quiet. There's also a walkway from Toon Town to Tomorrowland that's almost always empty. If you want to propose on a ride, the Tomoorwland Transit Authority is pretty long and mellow and you can get your own car. Hold on to the ring on the first turn though - it's a little bit sharp! Also, if you stay till after the Magic Kingdom closes it gets very quiet. You can get an ice cream, or just shop, on Main Street and I think about an hour after closing, the castle lights up and turns all different colors and there's some quotes of Walt Disney broadcast over the speakers. It's called the Kiss Goodnight (I think) and if you do a search on these boards you can probably get a better description than I'm giving. It's neat to see and it wouldn't be too crowded then. You may even be able to stand in the Rose Garden in front of the castle to watch it. Good luck!

There is a rose garden in the Magic Kingdom, to the right of the castle (if you're coming up Main Street). It's beautiful down there and it's generally quiet and not crowded. With the castle in the background, that could be a nice spot!

Dh proposed to me right next to Sleepy Hollow at MK...were were sitting on a low wall watching Spectro from a distance. It was pretty private back there...not too many people roaming around.

Oh, I think the best spot would be on the beach at the Poly watching the MK fireworks!!!

You could have dinner at the Poly and then stroll down to the beach, relax on a hammock and wait for the fireworks to start. Then when they start you can pop the question.

There are people on the beach, but it's not really crowded and it's dark so a million people wouldn't be watching you.

Cinderella's Wishing Well was a really quiet spot last week when we started an event from "Gifts of a Lifetime". I had never been there and while some people did walk by or stop, we were there alone for most of the time, and this is in July. If you stand behind the castle, facing the castle, there's a path down to the left and off to the side in a little alcove is the wishing well. It's a cute little spot in full view of the castle, but very quiet, and the wishing well is very quaint.

I've been told it's quite romantic, although a bit pricey. A boat would take you from the Yacht or Beach club (can't remember which) and park in the world showcase lagoon for a private front row viewing of the Illuminations spectacular. Now, Illuminations is only quiet in parts - but it would be quiet in the sense of semi-privacy. Definitely a night your beloved would never forget!

There are tons of quiet romantic spots in WDW....if you could share what your gf's interests are we could probably come up with a plan for you.

Personally I think the PO carriage ride or the Polynesian beach at fireworks time are wonderful ideas. Or using Gifts of a Lifetime to set up an event....could be low-key, yet you could get pictures of it all....

A couple of years ago when we were at MK I noticed down at the bottom of the rose garden right under the loading area of the old swan boats, there was a table and victorian settee set up. You could not go down there as they had it block off.


What was happening was an engagement. The couple came and were taken down there. The waiter open Champagne for them. there roses on the table. Then all of sudden the man got down on one knee and proposed. It was so romatic even in the middle of the day. even though it was in the middle of MK it still was private. Most people walked by and never noticed and there were just a few people including us who noticed.

I am sure he had made the arrangements with Disney. There was photographer also there.

As for her, she's extremely introverted and would rather be with 1-2 close friends than a group of acquaintances. She hates inconveniencing others and hates being the center of attention even more (she rarely ever puts herself in situations to be embarassed). Hmm...maybe proposing in Disney isn't her ideal scenario.

Anyway, why not monorail over to the Grand Floridian and walk over to the beach. It is normally pretty quiet with few people around. With the Magic Kingdom behind you it would be a great place to "pop the question" and still have your privacy.

No! Disney is the perfect place to do it! You'll have such magical memories of your trip!!!

There are plenty of above suggestions that are private.

Are you staying on Disney property? You could arrange to have some roses, chocolate covered strawberries, and champagne delivered to your room while you are out for the day. When you return you could propose in your room. Not much more private than that, but very sweet and romantic.

Have you checked out Gifts of a Lifetime? http://www.giftsofalifetime.com I have no idea what your budget is, but this is a very unique way to propose. They do things like a treasure hunt on the beach leading to a buried treasure (the ring). They are a wonderful company!

Don't abandon the Disney idea - you can find something that will work for you.

Does she have a favorite ride? A favorite character?

Last year I saw someone propose on the beach at the Poly while watching Wishes. It looked very romantic. I

f your gf is shy I would suggest proposing over a romantic dinner. My hubby proposed over a romantic dinner at Artists Point in the Wilderness Lodge on NYE. The California Grill or Cinderella's Royal Table during Wishes would be nice too. I read that at Cinderella's they will bring the ring over in a glass slipper.

This is what I was going to suggest as well. Have your girlfriend make a wish and as soon as she's finished say something like "I made a wish tonight too", then drop to one knee (corny, but such a sweet tradition) and pop the question. GOOD LUCK!!!

First of all, Congrats!!! Disney will be a wonderful place for a proposal. I agree with the above poster that something very romantic (and private) would be to do it in your room. Have champagne, choc strawberries, and roses delivered to your room before you return. Or have them placed on your balcony! You can propose, and then go to a nice dinner and celebrate (V&A's would be lovely!). Other private places would be in a beach (either Poly or YC/BC) in the evening. WS at Epcot is great too. France is very romantic. Or . . . you could just plan to do it a certain day, with no specific plans. Just do it when the moment feels right. Then have a PS set at a nice place for dinner.
If you want to make a big scene - that will certainly be easy. DH and I saw a proposal at the CG dinner the fireworks, and the waitstaff got the whole restaurant watching and clapping (not very personal, if you ask me!).
Anyway, good luck. It will be special no matter what!

My DH and I found a romantic spot at the GF during our honeymoon. There is a balcony near the shop on the second floor that has rocking chairs and a beautiful view of the water. Whenever we've gone there it has been empty. Very romantic and private - we love to just sit out there and enjoy each other's company. Good luck!
