I have a special date coming up. Later this year - I plan to propose and get engaged at WDW! And well - I want it to be a surprise! I have been researching these threads for a while but still need some help tweaking some ideas.

Part 1
Almost every post says talk to a CM for help. So I am wondering how I might be able to get a CM to help share in the magic? Do they message you on this board? Is there a number to call ahead of time? Or do I just wait till we get to the park? I am trying to get a lot of the details done - ahead of time if possible!

Also - I have seen several threads saying to talk to the concierge? If we are staying in just a standard resort - would it do any good to talk to them and maybe hope for some extra magic? I have seen many threads where hotels have left people special memories and really want to make my GF feel like a princess.

Part 2
It is about the proposal. I have 2 options. I am looking at proposing in the castle. But I am worried about the noise - youtube.com/watch?v=ljEeKxPfjz0I think something more intimate might be better. So option number 2 is in the MK during Wishes. I really prefer this option because I have dreamed about it for the past 5 years we have been dating. But I am worried about the lighting - youtube.com/watch?v=4swbbufqlgY

I have a CRT ADR booked. Is there any way I can tell them we just want a very special dinner without having a predetermined occasion? I do not know. I just know for engagements, honeymoon's, anniversaries, they make it extra special. So I am wondering if some how this can be special somehow - without ruining the surprise. The stories of special seating, glitter place settings, personalized menus, and champagne toast sounds so romantic! I really think the dessert idea is wonderful - but I do not like the setting for a proposal. And with Wishes - I like the setting - but am scared about the lighting.

Would anyone have any other advice? Am I asking for too much? Please feel free to respond. If you would like more details - please feel free to MSG me and I will explain.

Thanks for any help in advance!

My DF proposed at CRT. :thumbsup2 He planned it with them ahead of time, so we got the "best seat" in the house. At the end of the meal, the waiter brought me a covered dish with an engraved glass slipper on a bed of rose petals inside, with the engagement ring on a rose bud. He got down on one knee, proposed, and well...here we are! He even arranged for a Photopass guy to be there so we'd have pics! :lovestruc

He says he called 407-824-4477 to book it (which he did while he was deployed to Iraq!! ), but I'm not sure they do it anymore. :guilty:

Here's a pic of the ring on the plate, and of the dessert they gave me after:

My proposal was at Narcoosses, just before the Wishes fireworls took place. It was super romantic, quiet, view of the castle, and then there were fireworks!

What hotel are you staying at?

If you do it at Cinderellas Toyal Table in the Castle, or Narcoosees or another disney resteraunt, you would have the benefit of being able to call ahead for the reservation & explain whats going on.

Another thing I think would be very romantic, would be a stroll behind the polyneisain, to watch the wishes fireworks, you might hv more privacy there!

CRT sounds lovely-- check out www.mouseweddings.com they have a section on proposals (under honeymoons/romantic vacations)

:)

We got engaged behind the castle- it was out of no where(at least for me) perfect!

My DF did it right before Spectromagic. He saw the photopass people and asked if we could get our picture taken in front of the castle. He then proposed in front of the castle and in front of the photopass woman. We got some great pictures and there was a huge crowd waiting for the parade so they cheered. It was fantastic!! He said he thought about doing it during Wishes but he was nervous about the lighting and the number of people in close proximity since everyone would be standing on Main St. as opposed to before Spectro where everyone was sitting on the sides.

Those pics do look amazing. When I booked the CRT - I gave them a brief idea of what I was planning but they told me to think about it first. lol. Thats why I am so tempted to do it in CRT instead of during wishes.

I am going to call CRT and ask if there is any way I can get the slipper dessert for us - and maybe a champaign toast before we leave. I am just really worried about the noise and intimate setting. That is why I have heard the Rose Garden during wishes is a wonderful spot.

Thanks for the link to mouseweddings! I have not seen that before :)

I just can not wait to get some more of my details put into place. I have the big pieces in motion - just need to tweak them all! I am probably over worrying - but really just want to do it the best I can to show her how much she means to me.

Hiya! Welcome to the DIS and Congratulations!

I hate to say it but you won't get a champagne toast at CRT - they don't serve alcohol or allow alcohol anywhere in the Magic Kingdom :(

Good luck on your proposal! My fiance carried my engagement ring in his pocket for two days before deciding to do it in front of the castle. Can you see the fireworks from a table at CRT? I have never been there so I don't know. But you might want to ask. If you move your reservation around you might be able to be at the restaurant during the fireworks.

OP -

My fiance proposed during a Wishes cruise. Might be something to consider, I loved it! You can see details in my TR (link below). PM me if you have any questions!

How sweet! When is the big day?
I am going to keep that a secret on the boards - but it is coming up soon! Lets just saw that I was very lucky to get a CRT reservation! lol. I will PM you the date in a minute :)

I have seen other TR for people on anniversaries get "Non Alcholic Champagne" served in CRT glasses at the end of dinner which they can take home. I really think thats sweet and romantic and would love to do that.

You can see fireworks from inside the castle...but my reservation will be over before wishes. Plus they say they do not reserve spots in the reservations. I will be guarding that ring with my life the entire trip and check 50 times making sure I do not leave it at home!

I had an internet friend that actually did those cruises - but have not talked to her in a while. I have someone checking out the Rose Garden spot for me and taking pictures in the next few days. If that falls through - a cruise may be another great option! Do you have any idea what the cost is? I am going to check out your TR inn a min - so I may have more questions.

Thanks to everyone for the great wishes and ideas!!!

I'm not sure what Billy paid for the Wishes cruise, but I just checked out AllEars and they list the Illuminations ones as starting at $275. Not sure what your budget is, but I can tell you that it's very special to be in the middle of Disney World and be alone (except for the driver). Where else can that happen? :) Good luck!

Does anyone know of a number to call for questions about guest relations in the Magic Kingdom? I am thinking maybe if I can talk to someone there...they can help me figure out a few details.

Thanks!

That's great then!!! :thumbsup2

Is this what you are looking for...

Cinderella's Royal Table Engagement Package
Because it is located in Cinderella Castle, Cinderella's Royal Table is a perfectly romantic place to feel like a royal couple. Proposing at Cinderella's Royal Table is so popular that the restaurant offers an engagement package.

The fairytale dining spot features American cuisine and hosts meet-and-greets with Disney princesses and the Fairy Godmother during breakfast and lunch. The engagement package is available at breakfast, lunch or dinner.

After your meal the server will present the engagement ring in a glass slipper, lying on a bed of fresh rose petals enclosed in a decorative platter with a dome lid. This is followed with a non-alcoholic champagne toast.

During lunch or dinner, you also have the option of a special white chocolate slipper filled with chocolate mousse on an angel food cake pillow, served with fresh berries and a raspberry sauce.

The Cinderella's Royal Table Engagement Package includes:

Preferred restaurant seating overlooking the Carrousel

A photograph with Cinderella

Your meal, including a toast with non-alcoholic beverage

A crystal slipper engraved with your names and the date

A pair of decorated take-home champagne flutes

A Cinderella's Royal Table lithograph

A personal photographer to capture the moment

The cost is $300 plus 6.5% tax and 18% gratuity.

Call (407) 824-4477 at least 7 days in advance to schedule a proposal using the engagement package at Cinderella's Royal Table. I recommend calling even earlier because it can take them quite a while to get back to you!
