Proposal idea(s)

My son asked his girlfriend to marry him on our Oct trip just a few weeks ago. The glass slipper can be bought at Epcot in Germany, at MK on Main St and DDT at Arribus Brothers. He had them engrave their names and date. We then taped to ring into the slipper. He proposed at 1900 Park Fare at GF in the Mary Poppins Tea Garden. Cinderella and Prince Charming walked out as soon as the ring was on her finger. They even had 2 photopass photgraphers there for pictures. At the table they had Just Engaged Buttons and served them Champange..Brought 4-5 pictures and gave them..no costs for all of this. Was Just Perfect!!!

They have some youtube videos on the disney wedding blog of people proposing at WDW. There are some great ideas on there!

My fiance went the route of taking me out to a signature dining restaurant (we went to Jiko which I HIGHLY recommend!) and ordered a sweetheart celebration (personalized menu, engraved champagne glasses, wine, etc.) and it was so romantic. Then at the end of dinner the waitress brought out our dessert and written around the edge was will you marry me. The whole restaurant was in on it and even took pictures for us!

Good Luck!! :thumbsup2

Hi,

Does anybody know where best to stand on man street if we want to be in the snow? and is it near the end of the fireworks that it snows?

Many thanks

i've seen it really at the smaller hub at the entrance/train station as you walk down main street. it comes out of the shops there so along main street is the main deal.

As a wedding photographer I hear a LOT of proposal stories. One of my FAVORITES is this:

The groom put their camera on a tripod, to take a photo of the couple. The bride of course assumes that he's just putting the camera on timer, but he's actually turning on a video recording. So they pose for their "picture", (it's gotta be wide-angle from a bit of a distance) ...and then he gets down on one knee and proposes!

The couple who did this, played the video at their wedding reception. Total tear-jerker!

My OH proposed to be in Feb 2009 in the Rose Garden. He had several friends of ours warned to be ready to take pics/record and I stupidly stood there posing for a picture...until I heard him fidgeting behind me and turned around to see him down on one knee. His exact words were "I think it's about time - don't you?" with the biggest nervous smile on his face. His hands were shaking (and my OH is a very confident person but he was sooooo nervous about it) Of course after I got over my fit of happy tears I said yes! At this stage there was a crowd of people after gathering around us to wish us well, which was nice but it all seemed like a blur. You'd think after 7 years together I would have been expecting it :lmao::lmao::lmao:
OP: I think whatever way you do it, it'll be perfect for her. You've obviously put a lot of thought into it and that will show. I'm sure she'll be delighted! You must let us know after your trip how you got on :love::love:

I'm glad I found this thread!

I'm thinking of proposing to my girlfriend on our upcoming trip in May and have absolutely no idea where to start...so far this thread has been helpful but I still have no clue. There's no snow at Disney in May, so that's out :rotfl: and I don't want to make it a huge scene with lots of people crowding around (I'm really shy)...I know her favorite park is the AK but there doesn't seem to be any 'romantic' places around there. Can you guys throw out a few more suggestions?

Also, to the OP, if you haven't had your trip yet, how are the plans coming along?! You have to let us know how it went!!! popcorn::

Oh I think there are plenty of romantic places at AK, especially after dark. If you can swing a trip there during evening extra magic hours, some good nighttime spots are Tamu Tamu Courtyard (the seating area for the ice cream stand, across from Tusker House), the covered spot just off the walkway between Asia and Africa, the tiny white pavilion next to Yak & Yeti, and the riverside seating area below the Coke/coffee stand across from Yak & Yeti.

If you have to propose in broad daylight, I suggest the trails around the backside of the Tree of Life—they're usually deserted and can be very romantic. Just be sure you're not right near the exit to Tough to Be a Bug when it lets out! :rotfl:

Also, Flame Tree Barbecue's seating area is vast and gorgeous, with a great view of Everest and a pretty pool. You can usually find at least one unoccupied pavilion there outside of mealtimes.

Thanks a bunch! :goodvibes
