Proposal during the superbowl?

Hope I didn't miss a thread on this already, but wasn't there supposed to be a man who was going to propose to his girlfriend during a commercial?

Did that not happen?

Thank you for confirming that I did not imagine this! I kept waiting for it to happen and it didn't. My mom and I were watching for it and one of us was in the room at all times. Weird...there was publicity about it and then...nothing...

I heard about this, too. Maybe it was just broadcast in his area and not nationally? I wondered about the spot, too b/c the media made such an issue over it!

wrong post--not sure how this happened, but I clicked on the Regis & Kelly post and ended up on this one? Curious. . .but I didn't see the proposal either and I watched the whole game too.

The sponsor backed out.

Supposedly they are now doing it on a local basis during Veronica Mars on the CW channel but are hoping that it will be national instead.

I feel totally pathetic that I know this but it bugged me last night when I didn't see it so I had to go find out why.

I read in the paper that the guy couldn't raise enough money. He only came up with $70,000 of the more than $1 million needed. He's donating the money to a childrens hospital, instead.

If you ask me, that's a better way to spend the money! I'd have donated to a children's hospital over a superbowl commercial to propose to someone!

Exactly. I would be sooo mad if some guy wasted that much money. I'd have to say no to his proposal.

Actually the guy did donate all the money he received to Vanderbilt Hospital I believe. He said he had been blasted and at some point during the entire thing he donated all of it and was looking for a corporate sponsor only.

Yeah he did donate it and some Madison Avenue company took over and they supposedly created the commercial with a tie in to a big name company(I was thinking DeBeers)

I feel for the guy if they backed out at the last minute--That's horrible to promise to do something on that level then just say "Ooops sorry"
