Hi Everyone!

I can't say enough how helpful this forum is.

I am going to DLRP with my girlfriend in a week! I am so excited and she has NO IDEA!! She just knows we are going away for her birthday.

I was hoping to propose to her while we are there and I have a pretty big logistical issue... how do I get pictures of the big moment? She has always said she wanted me to make sure I got pictures, but I do not know how feasible it is going to be. I was hoping to propose in front of the castle, but I'm not sure where exactly and it doesn't seem like there are Disney Photographers all over the place like there are in the states...

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly and sincerely appreciated!

Hi! What an amazing thing to do!
My thoughts about the photo would be to try and sneakily pop into City Hall and ask there - maybe they could arrange a cm for you for a few minutes? Otherwise maybe ask a friendly passer by?

I hope it works out for you and you both have a truley magical time:goodvibes

You could propose during a meet and greet here there is already a photographer. Would be extra special having the mouse himself in the photo" I wouldn't do it in one of the open meet and greets as she might find it embarrassing but a private one such as Mickey Mouse or the princess pavilion.

Or you could propose somewhere like inventions and ask the waiter to take photos.

You could just choose the spot and suggest it would be a greatspot to get a photo of the two of you. Ask either a passerby or a cm if they could take a photo and just as they go to take it - propose then!?

Also; are there any other Dis'ers around on the day? Maybe you could ask for someone to be passing by to take a photo for you. I know we would happily be somewhere at a specific time for a special event like this to help out!

Hi
I'm doing the same thing (proposing) in DLP in October, so know how you feel! Let us know how you get on!

I have to second this idea. Nothing could be more special than proposing with Mickey Mouse there himself for photos of the big moment. I strongly recommend speaking to your hotel concierge or City Hall about it beforehand though - they might arrange for a little added pixie dust or be able to radio through to the Meet Mickey location and have something arranged for you for the big moment.

The very best of luck to you both. :lovestruc

Thank you all so much for your suggestions!

Is anyone going to be in Disneyland next Sunday or Monday? I was really hoping to do it in front of the castle.

I have not been to Euro Disney, but the way the meet and greets work in Disney world they are not too secluded and everyone is focused on the character (and the people interacting with) until its their turn. Is it similar in Paris?

And I have read numerous threads online, it doesn't seem that they are too terribly helpful when it comes to things like this in Euro Disney. Are there better ways than others to go about asking for some extra help? Perhaps an email or telephone number I could call? And is it safe to assume that most cast members speak English?

Thank you again for the advice and wishes! I promise to let you know how it goes when we get back also!!

Mostly the same except with meeting the princess's and Mickey Mouse. These are indoors and it is only you in the room with the characters and photographer so nobody else is watching.

Im not sure if city hall would do anything, I have never found them much use with anything! I think your best asking a friendly guest to take a photo of you.

Not all cast members speak English, their name badge is marked with a UK flag if they do.

When we got engaged on the Castle balcony last year, I was actually glad it was private and not in front of anyone (DF didn't want ctowds either as we woukd both find it embarrassing being cheered).
My Pirate thought of getting engaged on our favourite ride, and holding the ring up to the camera so the actual proposal eould be caught on camera, but he got nervous. Also we climbed inside Skull Rock and he was about to do it again but someone climbed up with us. The Castle setting was beautiful as the sun sets over Fantasyland and made it sparkle and looked so gorgeous (like me apparently lol) and we stood and watched it set.....
He did however, love the idea of doing the Mickey meet and greet and proposing in front of the Mouse. This would have been great on a different level for me, an official photographer to capture the moment and the main Mouse himself (which, lets face it, all started with a Mouse......). And there wouldn't be too many people to overwhelm the moment :)

If I was to be proposed to at DLP I would want it to be with Mickey in the meet and greet. If you did it as taking a planned group photo the photographer would love it and you'd get loads of shots and the Mickey reaction would be priceless too. Can you imagine the photo on the mantelpiece with Mickey and your girlfriend showing shock/excitement!!!!! I'd love it!!!

Personally, in front of the castle is very busy and the photos being taken by a random passer by wouldn't be great. They would literally take 1 and may not think to carry on shooting. Also, probably be blurred or not framed properly! If she's mentioned photos being taken this isn't the best option.

I've photographed weddings and know that capturing that special moment is crucial and a professional camera will be ready set for multiple fast images so you will have a lot of ones to choose from to remember that special moment. With a passer by you will only have 1 pic.......which may not be good.

Sorry to go on but you're only going to do this once!!!!!

We got engaged two weeks ago in front of Winnie the Pooh...

Handed the camera to the cast member accompanying him and asked them to take lots of photos. :cool1:
