OK I have heard it ten different ways. CON C AY, CON C AIR, CON C ERGE. Is there a correct pronunciation? Even the CM's at the resorts pronounce it differently. Anyone have a good answer?

I've often wondered this myself (always pronounced it "CON C AIRZH"), so I checked my good ol' Webster's Dictionary:

"kon-syarzh" is how they write it; I read that as CON C AIRZH ... so for once I was right, LOL! ;)

I believe it is French. (at least 2 years of French class has taught me SOME things:rolleyes: :p )

In the French, you don't really pronounce the "n" in "con". It's kind of nasal. My dictionary has it written as, "ko" and then the "n" is really little, and above the "ko". (I hope this makes sense). But we Americans tend to pronounce the n.

The ending is just like you describe..........like a zhh. :D

This should be the link to the Webster dictionary online. You can hear the pronounciation there.

concierge

I had wondered the correct way myself, everytime I thought I got it down, someone went and pronounced it some other way!
