I'm doing some local races before the DDD at Disneyland in Sept. 2015. I'm a new (and still slow) runner. My main goal for the local races is to improve my time to submit the best proof of time I can for DDD and try to avoid the last corral for the 10k & half.
I've heard that rD uses the McMillan Run Calculator as a guide for corral placements on multi-day race challenges. Based on that calculator, my goal over the next few months is to get to a 11-12 min/mile 10k to submit as proof of time. Since I haven't done a half yet, I know my per mile time for my first half this spring will be slower than my 10k pace.
Is it better to aim for a faster 10k (11-12 min/mile), or to aim for a 14 min/mile half as proof of time for a multi-day rD challenge?
