Should I bring my daughter's birth certificate to prove her age when we visit? She is 9, but almost 5 ft tall. I don't want any problems with the child ticket.

If you think there is any chance of her age being in question, I would. Better than being out the cost of an adult ticket if someone has a bad day!

I asked Disney this when we went with my giant 2 year old. I was told that I would absolutely not need it. I told the lady on the phone that I was going to bring it just in case and she kind of giggled and said the I wouldn't need it. I wonder if their policy is to just beleive the guest? That being said, I think that I will bring my daughter's b/c when we go in Dec. She will be 9 then and she it not much under 5 feet tall already!

We have been to Disney World 3 times and were NEVER asked to prove our children's ages (we have three kids). I think that if they every started that, there would be alot of problems.

My DD11 was about 5 feet tall when she was nine. We were in Disney for 8 days & the only person who questioned her age was one of the lifeguards at Blizzard Beach. She was in line to go on the "icebergs" in the kiddie area & he asked her age. When she replied he gave her a look like, "No way".

Now she is 11yo & is 5'5"...she was recently mistaken for being 15!

I wouldn't worry about it. They will take your word for it. Worst case, they will ask her how old she is.

I have tall kids. I just measure them over the weekend to see. 5 year old 48 inches and 2 year 38 inches. We are going in May for my dd b-day so im glad she can ride most of the rides.

I was asked as I was entering MGM at the gate. I told them she was 2. I was up set because she did look big for her age. I took it personally this was 3 years ago :scared:

We have never been asked before and probably won't take any proof with us. CM's will generally believe the guest unless it looks way off.

I'm sorry you experienced that.

Did they ask for proof?

We've been asked at the gate before but have never been aked to prove it. DD was almost 2 and had a ton of hair fot her age. I guess people thought she might be older. I guess they didn't notice she still was missing over half her teeth :teeth:

Disney is awesome when it comes to age vs. size!! Several years ago we purchased a child 6 day park hopper pass (in the days when they never expired and for no additional charge!). We didn't use all of the days and went back 2 years later and my DS was now considered an "adult" by Disney standards. When we got to the gate I started babbling about how he was 8 when we bought the pass..blah..blah..blah. The castmember stopped me and said, "we at Disney will never penalize a child for becoming and adult - the pass is still good and no need to upgrade to an adult ticket."

Boy can I relate to your situation. My just turned 10 year old DS is 5 feet 1 inches and 126 lbs. My just turned 13 year old DS is 5 feet 10 and 160 lbs and looks like a college student. Little old Mom is a proud 5 feet 2 and not about to tell you how plump she is :rotfl:

thank you for letting me know that I am not alone. I have an 8 1/2 DD who is almost 5 foot. I her proud mother is olny 5 foot(lol). I was wondering about this for our next trip.
Thanks
KIM

My girls are 7 years apart so when we went in January we had a 2 year old and a 9 year old...the exact ages at the Disney price point breaks. The 9 year old is 5'1" and a pretty big girl for her age. We were never asked to prove the age of either one. Our 9 year old did get a couple of looks when she ordered from the kid's menu but no one questioned it.

Has anybody had any trouble with the dining plan for their really big 9yr olds? How does disney know that my huge DD9 is not really 13? Do you think people try to pass their tiny 11year olds off as 9? Having really big kids negates this possibility for me (and my conscience), but I know that with the Disney dining, many people might take advantage.

In post 9/11 travel, I don't think it's a bad thing to have a copy of child's BC when doing any traveling. I always carry raised seal copies of all of our BC's when flying.

Not sure if you're staying on-site but, if bought as part of pkg or @ resort desk, your MYW tix's are coded w/whatever info you registered under (including your child's name & age).

Once you're in the WDW computers via a reservation, they easily bring up info re children's names, ages, etc. for future visits. Saves on repeating yourself if you are a frequent guest. Of course, this does cut down on Jr. being 9 for 5 years;) .

Additionally, a 17 year old couldn't use a left over child's PH bought in 2005 either...would have had to be 9 to purchase in 2005.

BTW, Universal has it posted on their web-site that they will "card" children who visibly look overage!
