I took 4 years of high school Spanish, so I know the correct pronunciation is "Son Onhel" - but, being the American girl that I am, when I called to make a reservation, I asked for "San Ainjul".

Apparently a major faux pas. ;) :rotfl:

The CM repeated the reservation back to me and used the correct Spanish pronunciation.

I felt like a doofus. ;)

How do you normally say it? :)

I say it the correct way, but I feel equally as silly doing that.

We say the correct Spanish pronunciation, but I've had cast members making ADRs confused about what I was talking about. I think it just depends on whom answers the phone when you call. I wouldn't worry about it. :sunny:

san anhel...as it should be. Some of those restaurant names are hilarious. My favorite is when someone asks me if I've ever eaten at lee sillier. :teeth:

Speaking of Le Cellier... I took French in high school and my best friend took many semesters of French in college. We both agree the correct pronunciation should be luh ceh-yay. Correct???

Close enough. But if you wanted to be a stickler about it, it's more like luhr cel-ee-ay, though the ee part of it is pronounce so fast it's almost not there...almost.

It is La-cell-E-A
But when I called for my ADR's the CM corrected me and said La-sa-lay, but of course being one of those know-it-all types I recorrected her. ;)

:teacher: The "g" is pronounced like and "h". The "a" is a short vowel, not long like "ain"

San An-hell

I say the correct Spanish pronunciation, I think it´s due to I´m Spanish.. :rotfl2:

Venga,salu2.

You can't win. If you pronounce it "American", the CM will pronounce it en espanol. If you pronounce it correctly, the CM won't understand you.

Since you can't win, you may as well be right.
