With this warm weather we have been OUT OUT OUT as much as possible these last few days! :sunny:

Today we were outside in the backyard and my three year old was stung within minutes! He was stung about 5-6 times last summer and was terrified to even step outdoors. :sad2: My older two have never been stung at all!
:guilty: I am not sure if it is a bee sting or a yellow jacket but I wonder if some kids are more prone to *getting* stung? He doesn't have a terrible reaction (skin-wise) but it really gets him worked up.

Any advice? Bug spray didn't seem to work last year. :confused3

There are a few things that are easily changed that could be factors: avoid "flower" colored clothing (red, yellow, orange, purple, pink, etc.), teach him to stay away from flowers, make sure that you use unscented detergent and fabric softener, don't let him carry a sippy cup outside, and make sure that his hands, face and clothes are washed and not sticky w/ anything sweet.

Be careful with using no-tears shampoo/soap, etc., and also "baby" sunblock -- many of them are fruit-scented.

I hope you figure out what's attracting the critters; being stung is nasty.

You are not alone!! My DS4 was stung four times in three weeks last summer, all at different places!! Now when he sees bees he SCREAMS at the top of his lungs for a long time. My DS6 was with him all four times and did not get stung once!! My husband is very allergic to bees and has an epi-pen all the time and freaks out when my little one gets stung, which seems to be often lately. I am not looking forward to bee weather this summer!! :flower3:
