Promotional upgrade

Pondering question:
Read in some other forum that some peolpe have asked for a promotional upgrade (upgarde to next level room w/no extra charge) when they get to the counter to check-in. Has anyone here tried it and what was your results?

This has been a few years ago, but we were upgraded at BWV from a 2 bedroom suite to the 3 bedroom Grand Villa! (Which by the way was bigger than my house at the time) I wrote a letter requesting the upgrade and faxed it a week or so in advance directly to the resort. We didn't even know we had the upgrade until the bell boy opened the door! Needless to say, we were in shock!

Free upgrades are not as common as it seems at WDW. It does happen. BTW, most resorts are ignoring faxes so if you have any special requests be sure they are noted in your reservation. If they aren't contact central reservations and have them note your record.

As far as upgrades you can always ask when you check in. Smile sweetly and ask how much it would be to upgrade. If they upgrade you just thank them. If they give you a price you can decide what you want to do.
