We visited Disneyland and California Adventure 2 days ago (from Denver) and we purchased the photo in the tower of terror. The guy in the store told me that they have a promotion to get the same photo online for free and he pointed me to a printed page they have with some instructions to download the photo for free.
I asked him if they need to scan my photopass and he said no. He told me that I just need to follow those instructions with my receipt. At that moment of excitement with my family we forgot to write down the instructions.
Now I tried to visit the photopass website and nothing. I don't have any number in the receipt that I can use as a photopass number. I even call customer service and they don't know what I am talking about. The photo pass customer service also told me that they don't know about that promotion and they always need a photopass number.
*****If you have any plan to visit DCA in the next couple of days: Could you please check in the photo store of the Tower of Terror to get the instructions to download the free online photo, they have the instructions printed in one side of the cashing machines.
I can scan my photo but the guy told me that the photo online will be high resolution with all the same quality of the printed one I already have and will be really nice to have my high quality online photo.
