Projected BLT sales completion

Keep in mind that you also have the rest of the world buying DVC - not just the Americans. In some of those countries, the dollar is not as strong and they can more easily afford it than us.

I mentioned in another thread that my guide also said they expect sell out in 10-12mths. Whether it's blowing smoke or not, here we have no idea how many contracts they are selling. We can only judge based off what is being posted here. And for the record my guide didn't think BLT was a good value and said it was better to buy AKV since it was giving GCs and developer points. So he was not thrilled at our interest over BLT.

I was planning on adding on 100pts at BLT but I'm having a hard time rationalizing it with no incentives and I'll wait until the final hour I think. LOL

plus we have the credit crunch problems as well.I personly dont think it will sell out that quick.if it did disney would be kicking themselfs for not building BLT bigger
Plus there will be a lot of people sell contracts at the outher resorts to finance there BLT cost

According to another post BCV sold out in 18 months. DVC now has double the members it did back then. So if they have double the members they have double the exposure. And if BCV and BLT are similar in size maybe it could be true that it could sell out that fast.

I do realize that the BLT is not for everyone, but what made me buy in 3 years ago was that I was able to get the BWV which I bought for the location, location, location (so I bought there and paid a huge premium for it). If I was a brand new member the location of the BLT would have me sold in no time flat.

AKVs are very nice and the pool area & animal access is a definite WOW factor, but the location does not appeal to me at all. If I'm staying on Disney property I want to be close to the parks (even though I may not go into the parks everyday, its just so exciting being part of a monorail hotel or the boardwalk complex- Think of all the popular dining options you have within the monorail loop or a short boat ride away (the Hoop de Doo, chef Mickeys, California Grill, Victoria and Alberts, 1900 Park Fare, Ohanas and the Luau) and being able to view the firework any night (whether you enter the park or not) and the electrical light parade etc etc.

I tend to agree with you...plus I don't think the economy is as bad as the media would like you to think...I do think that there are people who are out there who feel like if there is a will, there is a way. BLT (or a monorail DVC resort) has been a dream for many and it's now time to make that reality! I myself can't wait to go!!!!

Actually, the dollar had been strengthening against foreign currencies, and the UK is having its own financial issues.

Another reason I don't think the pace will be as quick as it has in the past is that credit standards have tightened. Some of the people who might have received a rubber stamp approval for a loan to buy DVC a couple of years ago either won't be able to obtain financing, or the financing is going to cost much more, lowering their buying power.

I don't really care one way or another whether BLT sells slow or fast. I just don't think the estimates of 3 - 12 months are realistic. If the guides are basing that prediction on how quickly contracts are selling today, then I think they've predicted a bit too optomistically. There has been pent up demand for BLT by certain people, and they've all placed orders. When all those people have their points, sales are going to slow down.
