I was just wondering what the shipping came out to on the blankets if you shipped them. I know they suggest the flat rate boxes, but I don't know if the biggest box will hold four blankets. Has this boxed worked for you? I have not shipped many things before so any advice will help.

Were I live the biggest flat rate box didn't hold even one blanket, much less the four that we needed to ship. So we just boxed them in a regular box and took them to the post office. My husband shipped them priority mail (I would have shipped them regular :rolleyes1) and it was around $8.00 for the one box with four blankets.

I'm not sure if different post offices have a greater variety of sizes for the flat rate boxes though. The largest ours had would have cost around $10 though so it ended up being cheaper to mail them in our own box even if they would have fit.

Thanks, I have a feeling regular shipping will be cheaper for me also, since the location in inside my state. Thanks for all your help, have a fun trip!

I ended up using priority mail, too. I've had bad experiences with packages languishing in post offices waiting to make it to the carrier. That doesn't happen when you have a higher level of service. I paid just over ten dollars for two day priority; that gave me four days' cushion on the due date of my project, just in case. I had to use a fairly big box for four tied quilts; if people made the fleece kind, they might get away with a flat rate box.

Sure enough, my blankets were received on a Wednesday, they were due the next Monday, and I printed my vouchers the Friday of that week. Now I just have to sit and count the days until June!

Hmmm why are you not picking a place in your area? The place I was working with is not letting out of state people pick there location. Don't flame me just asking.

Every chapter has their own specific requirements - incl. what kind of blankets, size, how many per person, whether you can mail or must deliver in person, etc.

I'm in central Mass and just shipped off our three blankets to NH...cost was $19 (UPS) and will get there tomorrow. The box they were put into cost $4...too bad I didn't have one I could have used here at home. So...basically it cost $15 to ship them plus the cost of the box.
