As I was sitting and watching TV tonight the news guy came on and said that Delaware was in for Thundersnow. Just could not believe this and had to look up want it was and here is what we found out it is a "rare kind of thunderstorm with snow falling as the primary precipitation instead of rain. It typically falls in regions of strong upward motion within the cold sector of an extratropical cyclone, where the precipitation consists of ice pellets rather than snow." Needless to say we have had lighting here, thunder and now at 10 pm I can say that we are having a thundersnow.
So with that being said and in 35 years never hearing of this (and neither had my parents)....my picture today just had to be the next weather report where the guy was talking all about thundersnow...you never know when you are going to learn something new.
