Project 365?

I say take a few extra while you're there, use a day to "catch up" on your blog, and the problem is solved. :]

How is blogger working out for you for your project? I'm considering using shuttercal as just a hosting site, and blogger so people can comment without having an account, since friends/family ask to see it.

I like the blog site. Really easy to use, not a hassle at all. You can upload your photos or link them to your photo hosting site (and a few other options that I forget right now). Overall I am pleased. People can comment and I post the links on my facebook page so those people can check it out if they want. Works really smoothly. I am sure I am not even getting the most out of it that I can as I usually opt for the easiest route.

I figure that although I missed a few days, I usually post more than one pic per day so the people are getting their entertainment value from it either way. :lmao:

I already messed up and missed 3 days! :lmao: In my defense, I was VERY busy trying to reschedule my vacation plans around what was a possible (and now is a reality) blizzard that is to hit Massachusetts. Now I sit comfortably in Florida! I will be hitting WDW on Saturday and Sunday just for the fun of it. It wasn't in our plans, but since we have an extra couple days here, we are going for it.

I hate you!!! We've gotten about 20 or so inches and down in your area I've heard upwards of 16". This is as bad as the last one after Christmas, at least for us.

Enjoy your time in Florida. I'm going to out now and clear out the driveway. I should be done in about 3 hours.

Based on that, I think I'm going to start one. I just hate that on ShutterCal, the only people who can comment are those with an account on it. Blogger can have anonymous or Name/URL comments. Thanks for the help. :]

I'm doing the Project 365, under shuttercal.com's site. This is a really easy-to-use, fun site. I do have a few blanks for December, but I'll soon fill those in! It really forces you to look at your every day things. How often do you remember some object in your past and wish you had a picture to explain to your kids, who can't imagine life without all today's electronics? :rotfl2:

Plus, they archive your photos, I'm into my second year. And it's free. :thumbsup2

I started one this year like a number of Disney Flickr people were. I like it because I'm not just shooting photos of the kids all the time; instead I'm figuring out things about my camera. My most recent discovery is how the 18-55mm IS can work as an alright macro lens.

It lets me concentrate on photography rather than pointing the camera at the kids and trying to catch them doing something cute.

Like Ann, I tried doing a Project 52 last year and only took a few photos though...

Tsk tsk. So much hate. :lmao: It's ok, you can hate me. I will be coming home to the many inches of ice in my driveway soon enough. :scared1:

I did 365 for the last 2 years and loved it (well most of the time)

This year I'm taking a more relaxed take as to not completely burn myself out :)

Nice shot, great lighting. I'm almost finished building my DIY light tent. Shooting everyday myself. Nothing spectacular yet, but I'm learning a ton - which was the point of all this.

Thanks! I actually shot this on my kitchen counter with the overhead light as the only source, and a black tea towel as the backdrop! The 365 is reminding me how much I love my Canon 100mm f/2.8 lens, it makes a lot of shots great.

I've had one going for almost 4 years now (wow... how many days is that?)... like Alan above said, I really like having a visual diary of sorts to look back at what I did that day. It has improved my photography... and sure, there's lots of filler pictures... but also some great ones (or at least I think so) :goodvibes

Wow, 4 years Suzann? I am having a hard time keeping it up for this month! :lmao:

At least my latest ones are from WDW. I didn't shoot much. Took more time trying to enjoy it all rather than just looking through the viewfinder. We were stressed for time in the 2 days we had there. That kind of took the magic away from the experience. Don't think I will try to squeeze a small trip in on our vacations again. Long trips or no trips.

Wow!!! That's awesome!! I kept mine going for awhile but have been slacking off lately. I'm trying to start back up again!!

Thanks everyone! A lot of times its just to document what I did that day... but sometimes its to learn more about photography. The only hiccup I've had was last month... My phone had to be reset and I lost about a weeks worth of photos. I find it interesting to go back and see a picture from a couple of years ago and still remember exactly what I did that certain day. Funny how the mind works (but that's a whole different post!) Ha... its been great seeing everyone's pictures!!!

Here's an old thread brought back to life!

I've now finished my Project 365 (my first one, anyway!) and have found it a very interesting experience.

On the negative side, there were times that I was so desperate to get a photo out that I put out something that I would have loved to have spent a couple of hours in Photoshop working on.

And it consumed a pretty substantial amount of time, when you add it up - my home accounts are months out of date!

But on the positive side, I had a great time and have achieved something I feel quite proud of. I posted 365 pictures, recording each day of my year, and in truth I think I had comparatively few failures.

I learned a lot about "seeing" pictures, I tried a few techniques that were new to me, and took a lot of good and interesting photographs that I would not have taken otherwise.

So all told, I'm pretty pleased... Haven't quite managed to stop posting yet, either...!

Should anyone be interested, the full set is on Flickr here

regards,
/alan
