Anyone doing a project 365 this year? I am trying it. Posting to my blog in my signature.

For those who don't know, a project 365 is taking a photo every day and posting it somewhere (most use blogs I believe). It is VERY hard to do every day and I fully expect there to be many days that I can't do it, but I am going to give it my best.

Here is one link to give some ideas about the project. Click here for Project 365.

I'm doing a 365 project this year. There's a few other Disney photographers in this Flickr group that I'm in, and I'm posting the photos on my website too. The Flickr group is closing to new registrations on the 10th I believe. I think it'll be a good motivation to force myself to shoot something every day, I tend to get photography lazy in the winter months!

Wow, there are a lot of great photos in that group, C&B (which one are you, C or B?). Anyways, it will be good to check that out and give me some ideas. I can already tell that 365 ideas won't be rushing into my head on their own.

Good luck on the project. I try last year around April to do a daily picture project. The project last until end of July when I lost the drive to look for the shot. I am going to try a 52 week picture project for 2011.

I'm doing one. Not all the pix are getting posted online.

In order to find something to shoot every day I've started doing a couple of DIY projects. I've started building a Light Tent. The box (which I'm making out of PVC to be a little classier) is complete. I've got the fabric and the lights so it should be complete this weekend.

After that (since this project went so well), I'm going to start working on building a strip light / soft box out of PVC too so I can have better lighting for portrait shots.

I'm doing it, too, and posting in the same Flickr group as Crystal is above. So far, it's been fun but I know it is going to get really challenging really quickly.

I'm doing one with iphone 4 camera !!!! I've been wanting to do a project for acouple of years and my iphone is always with me, so what the heck. I'm also using an app, Path, to keep track of the photos and add captions. Path allows you to share - but only with other Path users.

I did one last year. It was a lot of fun mostly but at times a burden. The usual excitement in the begining and end and moments of boredom in the middle!

Made me get out of Auto on my camera and that was my goal. I loved looking at others projects on Flickr.

Here's mine.

I'm already failing miserably at mine. I was doing one w/my scrapbooking group. It is slightly modified, it is 52 digital pages with 7 photos each.

Ideally, a week in a glance type thing. I think I have 3 photos this week. Not a good start. Maybe I'll refocus today.

Nice to see so many people giving it a try. I can already tell that some days it will be a burden but I am trying to make it easier on myself by sort of theming it up a bit by doing things like Macro Monday, Wide Angle Wednedsay, Thirsty Thursday, Free for all Friday, etc... Still trying to figure out one for Tuesday, Sat and Sun but at least for now many days I can truly focus my energy on one aspect of photography and not just sit here wondering what I will do.

Good thinking trying to come up with a theme for each day!

I'll have to add that to my bag of tricks if I get in a rut.

It's completely not my style. I don't enjoy "forced" photography and don't really like to do it if I'm not focused on it. I'll go a month without touching a camera and then I'll shoot 2,000 shots in a weekend.

+1.

I've been asked by probably 3-4 people at work over the last few months to take pictures for Christmas cards, pictures of their new baby, etc. and have turned them all down for that exact reason. I like photography as a hobby, but the second I'm forced into doing it when I really don't want to, I know I'm going to want to do it less and less on my own free time.

That being said I tried a Project 52 last year. Know how many photos into it I got before I gave up? 1. :rotfl:

I thought the same thing but figured I would at least give it a try. Not sure that I am truly enjoying it so far. I may only have a photo 14 project when all is said and done. Who knows? Can't tell unless I try.

I actually started one on the first of December.
I've considered starting a blog for it, but have since just been using shuttercal.
It's a pretty good option for this, since it's made for these projects.

I was going to use Flickr, but being a poor college student means that I can't afford to buy a pro account. With a 200 picture limit, it doesn't seem like the right choice.

We've only got the free Flickr account ourselves. It'll only show your most recent 200 pictures, although the others are still there. If you've posted those pictures to a group you can still see them in the group, even if they're not in your most recent 200. For us, we're putting the whole 365 on our website and we're going to keep a month on Flickr at a time. I don't want the 365 photos bumping all of my Disney ones off the photostream.

I already messed up and missed 3 days! :lmao: In my defense, I was VERY busy trying to reschedule my vacation plans around what was a possible (and now is a reality) blizzard that is to hit Massachusetts. Now I sit comfortably in Florida! I will be hitting WDW on Saturday and Sunday just for the fun of it. It wasn't in our plans, but since we have an extra couple days here, we are going for it.

I realized that about Flickr. I didn't like the fact that people couldn't easily find all of my pictures at once with a simple link. It seemed to make me feel like my project as a whole would be less available.

I say take a few extra while you're there, use a day to "catch up" on your blog, and the problem is solved. :]

How is blogger working out for you for your project? I'm considering using shuttercal as just a hosting site, and blogger so people can comment without having an account, since friends/family ask to see it.

I've got one running, currently looking for Day 139's photograph - so around 40% of the way through the task.

It's published both on facebook and on Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/atp/sets/72157624818613364/

There are a few things that I find rewarding in this:

1) I take a lot more photos than I normally would have done. Sure, some of them may just be "fillers", but there are quite a few that I actually like, I like looking back at and feel quite proud of.

2) Even though I keep a personal journal, I do like having a visual "what I did today" thing to look back at

3) It forces me to try to take some photographs in a different style from the style I'm used to. Normally I shoot family holidays and stage shows - this has encouraged me to delve into macros, still life, abstracts and loads of other stuff that I would normally never shoot.

4) As I said above, I publish on both flickr and Facebook. The feedback on Flickr tends to be rather restrained, but the comments on Facebook are fascinating - different people clearly enjoy different styles of photograph and it can be fun tracking what different people like.

regards,
/alan
