Progress of your XL claim??

Regarding the above post - Royal Mail appear to have lost the newly signed documentation I sent back to ATOL, so much for recorded delivery!

'Unable to access delivery status'!

Waiting on hearing back from ATOL to double check they haven't received it so I can get a new copy signed and sent back. It's so frustrating just having emails to contact and not phone!!

What a shame! You must feel so frustrated! I am sure you will get sorted in the end - it's just hassle you could do without. Did you keep a copy of all of your paperwork? Perhaps you could fax them to ATOL to speed things up?

Royal Mail sometimes take up to a week to update their system to say the letter/parcel has been signed for.
 
Hubby had the money paid back into his credit card account while we were away. I hope everyone else gets theirs soon

Yes, have got copies of everything so can resend no problem. But frustrated is putting it politely!!! Will ask if I can fax it.

Royal Mail sometimes take up to a week to update their system to say the letter/parcel has been signed for.

Will keep checking it, but so far it still says 'unable to display delivery details'. I'm hoping it is just a delay in updating the system and it has been delivered - it's just so frustrating when you can't physically talk to anyone and have to communicate through emails!

Hubby had the money paid back into his credit card account while we were away. I hope everyone else gets theirs soon

Hi Jo,

ATOL have apparently now got the document I had to send to them, though I had to phone them to find out, after 20+ mins of being put on hold. I know they don't like getting phoned, but I had emailed them 4 times and only just got 2 bog standard automated replies so was getting a bit desperate! Royal Mail said it had been delivered, but it took them 2 weeks to do it and they had to redirect it so I had no idea where it had been delivered to!:scared:

Just have to wait now - they said on the phone they couldn't give me a time scale, but should hopefully have it within a 'few weeks' :sad2:

In the emails they said they deal with claims in order of receipt, but I think that's a load of crapola - ours went in the same day XL went bust!

Sorry for the rant - but I'm getting a bit fed up waiting now! We probably wouldn't have rebooked the holiday if we'd known it would take so long to get the money back. Credit crunch and all that - we're skint!

Poor you!!! You must never apologise for ranting. You provide me with so much entertainment via your PTR that you can rant all you like. You must be so fed up. At least you know they have all of your paperwork and necessary info now. I would just keep checking your bank account and 1 day you will get a pleasant surprise.

Most of the time I'm fine with it and think 'it will come when it comes' - the day you asked I was just really frustrated with it all and needed to vent!! :rotfl:

Keep checking my bank account - no sign of it yet......but I now have a wee song running through my head (a la Dory in 'Finding Nemo' - just keep swimming...just keep swimming) "Just keep checking....Just keep checking...." :rotfl2:

Have you check the UK Disney chat site www.thedibb.co.uk

Some of the threads on there regarding atol claims show that some people are having a bit of a bad time getting there money back. There might be something on there that gives you some help or advice.
 
Just a quick update!

Has anyone else had any luck getting their money back?

I've had 2 more letters from ATOL asking for our park tickets, I had to explain to them, twice, that we never got our park tickets as we never checked in. And that they already had the voucher for the tickets ever since I had sent the claim in. :headache: :headache:

Hadn't heard anything else from them after that, so was wondering what else they would want - maybe the keys to the hire car we never got, or the boarding passes for the flights we never took? :confused3

But then yesterday I got an email from my 'contact' at ATOL to say he thought we were very close to getting our refund, hopefully within the next 14 days!!! :banana: :banana:

Don't want to get too excited, but hopefully soon!! Hope everyone else is getting closer to their claims!

Did anyone claim for attraction tickets only, and have they been refunded yet, my claim is being passed from pillar to pillar and I'm getting a bit frustrated now. There must be someone in a similar position.

We're not quite in the same position, as we had booked a package deal with TCD. We waited about 6 months and just last week got refunded back the majority of our claim. However they haven't refunded us our park tickets. They keep asking us for the originals, we keep telling them we never got them, and we sent them the only voucher we received with ticket details on them. I'm hoping it will get resolved soon.
Have you tried phoning them? It takes a while but you do eventually get through, it's easier to explain to a person rather than email all the time.

Someone i work with was due to go to Florida in July this year and booked the flights with XL, but luckily had only paid the deposit and did so by credit card. They got their money back straight after the announcement of them going bust, so not sure how they got theirs back so quickly, i wonder if it was because they had only paid a deposit?
