Well, i'm now on progesterone supplements for the next 7 weeks of my PG...has anyone taken them and have they helped with your Pregnancy? I had been spotting for a few days and that has stopped.

Unfortunately I also have strep throat which i'm taking antibiotics for. All of this medicine is making me so nervous.

The U/S yesterday at 6 weeks didn't show much more than a yolk sac and fetal pole so of course i'm a nervous wreck. It could be just a few days behind.....

:grouphug: I have been where you are, so I know how you are feeling (except with the strept). Did your doc do a Beta HCG and then a follow up to see if your levels were rising, that is a great indication of how you are progressing. I had to take progesterone shots all the way to my 12th -14th week....can't remember exaxtly when. Every day DH had to give me the injection and because it was in oil form we needed a big needle. :eek:But the bright side of the shots was that they did their job, they provided me with the right amount of progesterone to help my son along. My thoughts and prayers are with you and if I can help in any way, please don't hesitate to let me know. :grouphug:

Edited to add that my sister used the progesterone suppositories and they worked out well for her.

At that time in my pregnancy that is exactly what my ultrasound showed, 2 weeks later there was a little heartbeat. I've been where you are (we've lost babies too) so I know how difficult it is. I'm finally calming down, but I'm in my 23rd week so it is easy. I also had strep during my pregnancy, and the baby looked great at the 20 week ultrasound, so don't worry about the antibiotics. Just try to eat enough that you can keep it and the progesterone down!

I have been where you are also.
I had to take progesterone until I was in my 13th week. I lost babies before that, all in the early part of pregnancy.

Anyway, the end product was a beauitful 10 lb 2 oz/ 23 inches baby boy, who is now 47 lbs/47 inches 5 year old!!!! :)

I lost a baby last fall at close to 8 weeks after spotting, and I did see the HB. I think I also had low prog. then, however the Doctor said I also had what looked like a clot. Now i'm just so nervous that the same thing will happen again. I was so hoping to see the HB yesterday and not seeing it was a complete letdown.

My HCG levels on Friday were 7100 and Monday were 11000 (appx) so it seems my levels went up nicely. The progesterone was a little low, so that's why i'm supplementing. My fear now is that the prog. is just prolonging the inevitable.

At this point, I just need to keep taking my vitamins, and just keep praying that things will be ok.

{{{hugs}}} I'll keep you in my prayers.

I took pregesterone -- seems to me mine were suppositories though. I eventually stopped bleeding. Not sure if it was the pregesterone or not -- the doctor who prescribed it to me said it couldn't hurt but could possibly help, and he was right. :)

Best of luck to you. I'm keeping you in my prayers.

I took progesterone from weeks 5-9 during my last pgy. You may remember from my post on your other thread that I had a subchorionic hematoma (unexplainable uterine bleed/clot). My OB said the prog. might help sustain the pgy. Who knows if it was the reason my pgy went fine, but it was worth taking it.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. My heart just aches for you!!! I pray everything goes well from here on out.

I took progesterone suppositories with the last DD. I had 9 miscarriages before finally trying progesterone. I hadn't been spotting with DD but the cramping was horrible. It actually felt like I was miscarrying for months. I took the meds until I was 16 weeks pregnant. I believe it really helped me. Ever time the meds were starting to wear off the cramping started again. When I took the next dose the cramping stopped. Progesterone relaxes the uterus and therefore stops the fetus from being expelled. Have you been having cramping?

A friend of mine had 4 miscarriages before they determined that she had a progesterone deficiency. Once they figure it out, all was well. She had to use progesterone suppositories up until a certain point in her pregnancy. She went on to have four children.

I've not had any real "cramping" per se, just the normal aches and twinges like I remember from having my son.

Skiwee1 - Wow...9 M/C's?? How did you ever get through that all?

UPDATE - My Dr just called me as i'm writing this....they said that the U/S yesterday was "Normal" and i'm to go back next week for another Ultrasound on Wed 9/21.

I just pray I see that beautiful little HB next time!

With DS9, they automatically put me on suppository suppliments and injections because he was conceived through IVF. It seems to me I was on these the entire first trimester -- during which I spotted continuiously. The doctor had me on complete bedrest as they were not sure what the cause was.

With DS4, I was on injections for what seemed like forever. Again he was conceived through IVF so they were being cautious in the beginning. But, my natural levels didn't rise as they expected so I continued on much longer than anticipated.

Not all babies develop as expected. With my DS4, when I went in to have the 1 (and only) embryo implanted, the embroyolist told me that they were waiting for the doctor to call with the decision whether to proceed or not. Apparently, the embryo hadn't split at the time they expected it to. The doctor went ahead and decided to implant the embryo anyway. Today, my DS is healthy as can be. If the doctor had made the other decision, he wouldn't have even had a chance. What I'm trying to say is just because the heart beat wasn't there yesterday doesn't mean it's not there today.

I wish the best for you. Are you scheduled for another ultrasound soon? I think I'd ask again in another couple of weeks if it's not already in the plans.

It was a rough 5 years but I really wanted another child. I wanted my kids to be 5 years apart. That is why DD 5y/o is so much younger then the others which are 16 and 21. It took so long to have her. Everyone thought little DD was an "accident" because of the age span and me being 38. She was a long waited for baby! Good luck and take that progesterone. It really worked for us.

When I went in last week for U/S at 6 weeks, they said seeing a yolk sak and fetal pole is normal (they saw neither in mine), SOMETIMES they can see a little heartbeat. If your hormones are good and everything, I'm sure things will be great

Progesterone suppositories for me too! Had one ectopic pgy and one m/c before DD#1. Had a little cramping and spotting with her too. Normal Hcg, low progesterone. They retested both every two days to make sure things were progressing well. Progesterone levels still not high enough so they doubled my dosage and made me lie flat for 40 minutes with each dose. (I did them when I woke up and after I got home for work. DH had to cook dinner every night  )

First u/s saw at 5 weeks showed only the yolk sack, second a week later showed a heart beat. I continued the progesterone until 8-9 weeks. I was also taking glucophage for PCOS which I stopped at the same time.

Things progressed well after that until 31 1/2 weeks when my water broke without explanation. I stayed in the hospital until 34 weeks when they induced me after DD's lungs were mature. 4 lbs. 12 oz. 2 weeks with her in the ICN and she came home.

Don't worry, it will be fine. I am glad your doctor has taken action and is monitoring you closely. Good luck.

I had progesterone injenctions until I was 15 weeks. I had to get them 2x a week until I was 15 weeks. They had the hormone in seasame seed oil and I had the shot in my tushy and those hurt.

I kept my baby and now he is 3.5 years old.

I was very worried too but everything turned out ok

Well, today I had the U/S and there was no fetal development since last week. I will have another M/C at 7.5 weeks. My Dr. told me to stop the progesterone, and let a natural MC happen. I expect it to take a few days. I still feel very PG.

I need to go back to see my Dr. next week and I presume i'll be made to undergo some testing if we want to try for another child.

I know i'm blessed with a healthy and happy 3 yo and I had no problems having him. Apparently having # 2 seems to be something that my body doesn't seem to be able to do for some reason. Thanks to all of you for your well wishes and I hope one day to be telling you all again that i'm PG.
