Hi!

I am currently a part time Disney employee and am thinking about applying for a Marketing Professional Internship. Could anyone tell me some general information on that? Even if it's not in that field and maybe just some information on the professional internship program. What are the hours/days off like? what does the actual job entail? and did you network with leaders before applying to get your foot in the door?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I did the Guest Relations internship so I might not be too much help since my internship really wasn't like most of them. Generally PI's work about 40 hours weeks with 2 days off. Just like the college program, you need to be in school the semester you apply. I didn't really network with leaders in order to get the internship, but it never hurts to get your name out there along with a positive reputation amongst your area and leaders.

I was under the impression that you can apply for PI's if you are out of college but currently participating in the college program. Is this true or am I incorrect?

From what I understand, if you are currently a CP, you can still apply for the PI, but it's your last shot (unless you go on to take more classes). Understand, however, that if you in the advantage program or have extended, you will not qualify as the maximum length of time you can be at WDW on a student program is 12 months. If you are regular CP and get the PI, you cannot be extended in the PI at the end of your program, so if there is nowhere for you to go, either as a temp assignment or a statused role, you may be stuck.

graygables is correct. If you're no longer in college but you're on the college program, you can apply for PI's during your CP. Out of the interns I worked with, almost all of us had graduated in May, did a CP in the fall and then our PI in the spring. The "one year of internship" rule still applies meaning you can only do 2 consecutive semesters of internship, regardless if they're CP's or PI's. Someone I worked with did however do the Fall Adv CP May-January and then the PI January-June, which is just over a year so there's a little bit of flexibility but it's still only 1 year/2 semesters.
