I'm a fairly new local to LA and plan on purchasing an annual pass next week when I visit the park next weekend :) I'm going to buy the voucher online, but what is the process once I get to the park? Is there a special AP office to visit where I'll get my photo taken and get the plastic card pass?

There's no longer any building where they process them and get your picture at the same time -- you now get the plastic cards at the ticket booths. If there's no big line I'd recommend just going straight there (although you have the option of going straight to the main gates and you'll get a temporary paper ticket that you'll have to take to the ticket booth later anyway) and you'll get your photo taken by a PhotoPass Photographer inside the Park.

What you should do is get a 3 day hopper if you want to go to the parks for more than just the day you want to start you AP on. Use the hopper on a block out day or two and within 14 days of first use upgrade it.

If just going on one day and then not for a while it won't matter.

If you are looking at one of the SoCal resident passes, bring proof of being a local.
